Hi there
no need to remove the dash pad.
I use proper black non seating mastic. It flexes with the body and doesn't harden, shrink or crack.
Put a bead in the seal and then fit it to the frame, use soap based lube then sit the screen in the bottom of the seal and gently work around until the screen is in. Next put a bead of sealant into the seal between it and the screen. Finally fit the bead. When you fit the bead lots of sealant will squish out. If you non setting mastic, you can clean it of with with spirit. If you use silicone it will stop the sealant of any type sticking.

Hi there
in the past I have used generic seal from people like the vehicle glass company.
They are straight of the roll so not shaped but do the job ok. You will need a tool to fit the filler strip and lots of patience.
The last se5 I fitted a screen to was a pig, eventually got it in by fitting the seal to the aperture than sitting screen in the bottom lip and working my way around. Similar to haw you fit an mgb gt screen.

Hi all
Have had a steady morning on the camper.
I have re-fitted the spare wheel winch that I repaired yesterday and its working fine. What a stupid design.
I have also removed the drivers door mirror and ordered a new one as the electrically adjust didn't work and customers can be funny about odd things like that.
I have also taken a big gamble by fitting the last remaining window, the drivers side one. Its 2 degrees and snowing so I have plugged her into the mains and put a heater on full. Hopefully the adhesive will cure ok.
I have seen windscreen fitters fitting when its this cold with no issues so keeping my fingers crossed.
Cheers - mike

Hi there
I often fit bonded windows into campers and use a knock on edging around the cut aperture.
Its wire reinforced and very tough. Any automotive glazing compant should sell you a bit

Hi all got a few bits done today I trimmed around the window in the sliding door and repaired the handle as you could not open the door from the inside. Also did a bit more cleaning and trimming on the b posts. One of the issues that's not camper related is that the spare wheel cradle would not wind down. It looks to be the original tyre so has probably never been touched. I had to grind away the retainer at the wheel and they drop it down. With the weight of the wheel off the mechanism I was able to release and wind down the cable and lube everything up. I have had to repair the cradle for the wheel using a bolt and a bit of welding. First time I have used my welder in anger for a few years now. Anyways, I hope to have the upholstery finished tomorrow and mounted for good. Thats if I can get the sewing machine to play ball!! Cheers - mike

Hi all struggled today as I'm feeling curse word. Got the sliding seat fitted for good plus I have also fitted the passenger rear seat belt using the factory mounts. Was a complete pain, I had to make the strap that goes between the mount and reel as it was missing. Its in now and works fine with the seat slid forwards. I also managed to refurbish and fit the under seat drawer and drawer front. Happy to say it now lines up correctly and slides in and out as it should. Not much left to do now,one window to fit, kitchen top to finally fit and gas and water to connect up plus some bits of lining and trim. I had hoped to have it finished in the month but have lost quite a bit of time due to poor weather. cheers - mike

Hi all got a few more hours in this afternoon. Finished early though as its bloody freezing and now snowing! The drivers side rear cupboard is finished.I have extended it by 100 mm or so so it now finishes at the rear door the same as the other side. The drivers sliding seat rail is now finished and fitted as is the seat. The seat may have to come out again as its a bit tight on the runners but it may settle down once I have been underneath to tighten the runner bolts. Had a bit of a disaster though as I need to drop the spare wheel to get at the bolts and the mechanism for lowering the wheel has seized solid. Will have to have a look at it tomorrow. Hope to get the last window fitted tomorrow as it looks like a dry day. Cheers - mike

Hi all I managed a couple of hours this morning whilst dodging the snow showers. I have shortened the passenger side sliding seat runner and cleaned it up and re-painted it plus shortened the support and covered the exposed part in lining carpet. Have a bit off bother fitting it as you cant hold the fixing from the top and tighten the nuts underneath the van. Got there with the help of a pair of mole grips. Now that its in I have been able to do the final fit of the small passenger side rear corner cupboard. Hope to get the drivers sliding seat runner refurbished and fitted later and may even get the drivers rear cupboard finished. Cheers - mike

Hi all had a steady day today stripped everything back out of the van so I could fit the flooring. Its seriously good quality, non-slip but a pig to fit. Its been pretty could today and the flooring wont flex,in fact it is quite brittle so I have had to use the hot air gun to get it to bend for cutting. Got through 20+ blades as there are some seriously tough bits embedded into the vinyl.Any ways its down now and looks good.I have also carpet lined the step into the cab. I also managed to get the kitchen unit fitted for good. For fitting up and checking I only fasten the units with half the srews so that I can move them about easily and the when I'm ready I do a full fit taking extra care to get them all lined up as best I can. Its surprising just how far out of true / level these van can be. Cheers - mike

Had a steady couple of steady hours this afternoon and got the sliding window fitted in the side door. I had a problem with it slumping down so have taped the top. It looks ok now so fingers crossed. I hope to get the window in the drivers side tomorrow and a few mow bits of trim made. Big day planned for weds as I am going to remove everything and fit the flooring. The seat/bed and units can then be fitted for good and all the systems double checked. I don't expect any issues though. Cheers - mike

Hi all I've had a steady morning went into leeds to pick up some heavy duty flooring as fitted to buses. Its designed to last 20 years on a bus so should be good for a camper. I have also made the base for the cushion in the drivers rear corner, just waiting for the foam to arrive and the it can be upholstered. I have also made the passenger side rear cupboard.Just needs a top making when I decide whether to cover it in lining carpet or make it from furniture board. Hope to get the window in the sliding door later Cheers - mike

Hi
Yes its 6ft 2ins between the walls.
I used to do mainly coach built refurbs and updates but the market has dropped off.
I try to produce truly multi purpose vehicles now. The Peugeot when finished will seat 6 in mpv mode, seat 5 and sleep 3 in camper mode and with the bed slid either forwards/backwards or removed, makes a good sized van.
Cheers - mike

Hi there
I like to achieve as close to a factory finish as possible. I have been building and refurbishing campers and motor homes for over 30 years and some of the "factory" stuff can be dire.
I used to run Scimitars during the 80's and 90's, se5,se5a,se6a and have broken quite a few. Don't really get involved with them nowadays.
Cheers - mike

Hi all sneaked a quick hour this morning whilst my wife was at the gym. Got the inverter for the fridge wired and connected. Also got the refurbished trim panels mounted to the rear of the seat / bed. She's out after lunch so I may get another hour. Cheers - mike
