Hi all Had a few hours on the camper on Saturday to try and catch up. I have had to remake and re-fit the top cupboard as the customer wanted a bigger door that was downwards hinged. This morning I have lined the sliding door card, cut, laminated and trial fitted the work top and cut the hole for the hob.Got some wiring to finish this afternoon so I can test both the 12volt and 240volt systems. Once they are tested I can finish final fitting of the rear cabinets and then make and fit the wardrobe cabinet. She has been a bit more challenging than the last one but she's coming together really well now. Cheers - mike

Hi all, I have had a steady week on the Vivaro. All the electrics are finalised, the top cupboard is made and fitted and the roof vent is finished.I have also made the panels for the bottom cabinet. I hope to finish installing the bottom cabinets today which will just leave the wardrobe and the rear roof to finish and then onto making worktops and table and fitting the hob etc. Cheers - mike

Hi all I have had a steady morning and managed a few hours on the camper. The centre roof panel is now finished. I had to add a couple of battens to the end of the panel to stiffen it. The front panel is now fitted along with the light so just the rear roof panel left to do. Had a staff meeting a few mins ago (just me) and we have decided to go for a blast over to Wetherby in my CLK and pick up some fish and chips followed by a pint of black sheep bitter so thats it until MOnday. Have a great weekend, cheers - mike

Have managed to get a few hours on this . The side window in the sliding door is now fitted. I finally agreed the finished spec with the customer yesterday so can go full speed ahead now. I have made and fitted the front upper cupboard panel. The door is offset as there will be an lcd tv/dvd player fitted to the nearside.I hope to get the roof insulated later today and also some more work on the mains electrics. Cheers - mike

d Did a bit more this afternoon, lined the passenger side rear arch, side panel and the sliding door runner.Made and fitted the roof side panel supports and made and fitted the panel that supports the 12v fuse box. This panel will eventually be inside the wardrobe. Hope to get out and about to my supplier tomorrow, got furniture board,hob/sink, ceiling lights and other bits to sort out tomorrow. The only issue I have now is that my bed supplier is now quoting 3 weeks for the bed delivery. Will have a chat to them tomorrow as I need it in 2 weeks or less. Its not possible to fit the bed once the side units are all in which is a pain. Cheers - mike

Hi all
I have had a steady few days on this.
The roof vent is now finished. I had a bit of a night mare fitting as the roof isn't flat and when closed the outer dome fouls the ribs in the roof. I had to sand around 10mm off the outer dome in order for it to close properly and not foul the ribs.Anyone that's worked with acrylic will no that this can be a pain. You have to be careful not to crack the acrylic or create to much heat.Next time I fit a roof vent it wont be a Heki, the ominivent has much better clearance and is better made.
Have just finished lining the rear doors. I bonded in the ply panels where the windows would usually go so as to give a flatter finish and lined them all in one go.I usually line the top and bottom separately but this leave a seam which I don,t like.
I will be lining the passenger side rear later and maybe making some trim pieces for above the door.
Cheers - mike

Hi all,
have had a couple of days on the latest Vivaro.
Have stripped out all the old electrics and first fitted the new 12v system to include the feed from the battery to the split charge relay, feeds for lights,12v socket, fuse box etc.
Have fitted a swivel to the double passenger seat and cut out the hole for the roof vent.
I have reworked the roof profile around the roof vent area so that its flat. This should give a neater finish and enable me to fit the roof vent without needing lots of spacers.
I should have the frame for the roof vent bonded in tomorrow and the vent itself will be fitted on Monday.
Cheers - mike

Hi there
a conversion like my last one would come in at £3700 or thereabouts fully fitted.
I'm meeting with the customer for this one tomorrow and due to the higher spec it will come in around £5500.
It all depends on what you want to use the vehicle for. Most of my customers use them as an everyday vehicle and occaisional camper.
I should be starting the conversion on Monday. Its going to be a one off so will take a bit longer than normal.
Cheers - mike

Hi all,
I have just taken a commission to build anther Vivaro camper conversion.
This one is going to be better equipped than the last one and will have double glazed seitz windows, blown air heating, bigger fridge,on-board fresh tanks and built in lcd tv/dvd player.
It will be a three birth and have a double swivel front seat, blue tooth hi-fi,sat nav and quite a few other extras.
The base van has just been valeted and had a new ply lining fitted and should be finished by the middle of October.
Cheers - mike

Hi there
I do usually fit a window on the offside but decided to do this one slightly differently.
These vans usually sell to older people, walkers and fishermen who want more of a day van and occaisional camper so I have deleted the window and the Heki roof vent.
This means I can sell at a lower price but I can retrofit either in less than a day if required.
Cheers - mike

Got a bit carried away today and did some paint repairs.
Wet flatted some of the scratches on the sides and machine polished before fitting some graphics.
I don't normally fit graphics but I think they make it look less like a van.
Hopefully she will sell fairly quickly as I have another coming at the weekend.
Cheers - mike

You are quite right about the fiddly bit.
The key to success is planning and patience.
The hardest part is getting everything to fit neatly, all the units have to be individually scribed to fit which can take a bit of doing.
All in all just you just have to take your time and it all works out.
Cheers - mike

Hi there
I do this for a living. I have been refurbishing campers and motor homes for 30 years but nowadays concentrate on conversions.
I often build one offs to order to suit a customers needs.
