Following this with interest, considering building one myself in a Vivaro. Only problem I’ll face is it’ll need to sleep four of us, two adults and two kids and most rock and roll beds are ably big enough for two. Hi there to sleep 4 you will need the long wheel base, hi roof, which can take a bed for two in the roof. Cheers - mike

Hi all Had a steady day on the Nissan today. The wiring loom above the rear doors has been moved. It now runs inside the box section so is no longer seen. I have run all the wiring for the rood lights, added 30mm of insulation and made and fitted the main roof panel. Tomorrow should see the lining panels remade in ply and probably lined with carpet. Cheers - mike

Without wishing to blow smoke up your hoop, the standard and lengths you go to is fantastic. Some conversions look good, but underneath the vans are grubby, rotten and bodges... That looks properly well done. Thanks I try my best to buy decent vans to start with but all are stripped and cleaned before I start the conversion. I can't se the point in fitting a nice new conversion on top of 8 years worth of builders muck etc. Cheers - mike

Nice one. I really like that color They are only sold as Renault here in Australia. Are they good van's? hi there I like the colour as well, I get fed up of just doing white are silver. The one after this is metallic black. They are not bad vans, they drive well and are fairly reliable. Cheers - mike

Hi all
i'm just about to start a day van camper conversion on a 2012 Nissan Primastar.
She's an ex Scottish gas van, one owner, full service history with a good spec including electric windows, mirrors, parking sensors, air con, auto wipers etc.
So far I have stripped out the racking and removed the front bulk head.
One quirk of the vans is that they don't come with a passenger seat so I had to source one which was quite tricky as the trim is different to the Renault and Vauxhall variants.
She's going to be a two birth plus a dog with the usual side kitchen layout.
I will be making a few changes to my usual build. The ceiling will be a one piece panel not the usual two piece. There will be no windows in the rear doors so I will be fitted a rear view camera.
She should be complete in 3 weeks, weather permitting.
Cheers - mike

Hi all this should be the last update on this build. I have had a steady couple of days finishing a few jobs. I have bonded an awning rail to the passenger side hi-roof. I have used windscreen bonding adhesive so it should be good and solid. I don't like just screwing the rail to the side of the roof for two reasons, 1 they invariably leak and rust around the screw holes, two the hi-roof skin as only .6mm thick so not really up to taking much load without the use of spreader plates. I have added the graphics to passenger side, just got the drivers side lower graphics to put on in the morning. cheers - mike

Hi all have had a busy day today got up early and gave her a check over and a good run prior to the mot. She passed with now advisories so fairly happy with that. Have been doing all the last little jobs that get put off and cleaning, cleaning and cleaning!! Have now carpet lines the rear doors and refitted the trims. Have fitted the curtain rails and hung the curtains. They need a good hot day in the sun to settle as they are pretty creased at present. The passenger side graphics are on and the drivers side should be on later. Got a bit of trim to make for the roof and one bit for the sliding door pillar plus a bit more paintwork to sort on the passenger rear door and hinges. Cheers - mike

Hi all still working through the last few jobs on this, the rear wardrobe / cupboard is now finished. This a split into 3, the fronts a wardrobe with 4ft of hanging height, the top rear is a small cupboard for t. shirts etc and the bottom cupboard accessed from the rear is over a metre deep and currently holds the mains lead and adapter and jack. There's also quite a bit of storage under the seat, accessed from the rear of the van. The seat is now finally bolted down. I like them to be a snug fit and it fits pretty well the only hassle was the easy lift pedal fouling the inner rear arch so it had to be reduced in width by 6mm. I have also made the table and fitted the base. Again I have made the mount off-set so as to maximise its functionality. I have now tested the on-board systems thoroughly and am happy that they are all working so I have finished the panels inside the kitchen unit, adding one to split the cupboard and a shelf on the other side. On a safety note, I have also added a fire extinguisher. I am always a bit puzzled that the dvla guide lines do not specify an extinguisher. I spent the morning today doing pre-mot checks. The handbrake was pants and I found the n/s rear brake cable seized solid so that has been rep-laced. I also needed to slean up all the discs, front and rear, as she has been stood for aprox 8 weeks now. I don't expect any major issues for the mot as last test it was fitted with new front shock and springs.new anti-roll bar drop links, new discs and pads plus a few other bits. Cheers - mike
