Hi all up bright and early this morning. I'm doing the prep for the paint work. Have got the bonnet rubbed down and ready for primer and dealt with the two nasty dents in the side door. Next job is to weld up the two holes left over from the access ladder in the o/s rear door and straighten out the dents. Its ages since I have done any welding so it should be fun. Cheers - mike

Got a few more bits finished.
Have made the final connections to the Sargent power board and tested all the circuits.
They all seem to be fine so this can now be boxed off,the battery cover made and fitted and the wardrobe finally fitted for good.
The bodywork should be started tomorrow hopefully, going to start by giving her a wash and cutting back the paint work.
She doesn't need to much really, mainly the bonnet, rear doors and a few odds and sods.
Cheers - mike

Hi all Having a steady day today working through lots of odds and sods. The table is made bar the edging which i'm waiting for. I have cut the holes for the waste pipe, drop out vent and table mount. The drop out vent and table mount are now fitted. I have fitted the table mount off centre on the table and the base so that it can be swivelled to give maximum fuctionality. I mounted and wired the inverter and connected up the fridge. I currently have it running as a trial before I box up the kitchen. Got a bit more wiring to do connecting the leisure battery and main battery to the Sargent and then the wardrobe can have its final fit. Cheers - mike

Hi all Got a few hours in this morning Its great to be working in the dry and warm. The 12 volt, twin usb and mains sockets are in and wired and all the wiring is routed and secured. Just the leisure battery feeds to add. The side roof trims are now all made and loosely fitted and the old courtesy light has been remounted in the side panel. Now these are made and in I can do a final measure for the bed panels. Cheers - mike

hi all Had a few hours on the camper this morning between showers and drizzle. The wardrobe end panel is now fitted permanently and I have cut the hole for the Sargent charger / control panel and mounted it. Have started wiring in the various circuits. The lights are connected and I have the loom made for the water pump so I can fit that this afternoon. Hope to get the holes for the mains socket, 12v socket and usb outlets in after lunch and wire them all up. Cheers - mike

Hi all Had a reasonable day toady. I made the worktop out of 2 9mm sheets of ply which with the laminate give a finished thickness of 19mm but the edge trim is 15mm so I had to add a 4mm relief all round the worktop edge. The worktop edging is now fitted as is the gas bottle and retainer, gas pipe, kitchen waste and sink tap. I have also made the wardrobe end panel. This is a bit of a pain to make as it needs fitting to the rear wall and floor. It just needs a few reinforcing bits adding for the pocket holes and then its done. This leaves just 2 panels left to make. I have also decided to make up a shelf unit for inside the kitchen unit as there's currently nowhere for a cutlery tray or plates etc. There would normally be an overhead cupboard but this has been deleted as there's a bed to go in the roof. I don't expect to get much done tomorrow as I have a funeral to go to over in Wigan. Cheers - mike

Hi all This afternoon has been a bit of a pain. One of those when nothing wants to play. Went out and sorted a new saw and then fired up my router table only for the router bit to explode. The bearing on the top died and made a bid for freedom over my right shoulder. Getting the feeling that I have been hexed!! Anyways I cut both the boards for the worktop and bonded them together. The latest Dometic sinks and hobs are a pain to fit as you need a 9mm relief around parts of the hob or the flange will not sit neatly on the worktop seal. I also managed to get the black laminate bonded on and all trimmed. Had to do this by hand due to the router table incident so took a while. I have trial fitted it and it fits well and the hob/sink sits nice in it. It will need cutting to fit nicely with the wardrobe wall when that goes in tomorrow(hopefully). Cheers - mike Thanks, I have done one or two Transits. They are not bad to convert apart from the really high rear floor. Good luck with your conversion, Cheers - mike

Hi all,

Just blew my good saw up. Its about 25 years old so only just run in. One second it was fine and then there was smoke shortly followed by flames. They don't make things to last nowadys!!
I will have to pick one up this afternoon as I'm at dead stop without it.
Cheers - mike

Hi all got a bit more done this afternoon. I have made and fitted the centre corner moulding for the kitchen unit front. I was in two minds about whether it actually needed this but as I the moulding thought why not. It has actually stiffened up the font of the kitchen panel quite nicely. One issue I do get is that when you cut large openings in the panels for doors etc which people want it can leave the panels a bit flexible so the corner mouldings add support to the panel. Also swapped the bolts holding down the passenger seat as the originals were fouling the swivel mechanism slightly. Have started making the kitchen unit work top. It wont be going all the way back to the window so I need to come up with a design that looks right but I have an idea. Hope to get a bit more done tomorrow morning and that's it until Monday. She's starting to come together quite well now. Cheers - mike

Hi all due to an operational issue I cant make the wardrobe end panel today. There has been a tape measure malfunction. I appear to be 40mm short. Anyways as a consolation i made up the other end panel and door, this time measuring properly. Now that this is made I can carpet line the drivers rear corner. I wont be able to fit it yet as I need to make up the bottom front wardrobe panel first as this sets its position. Cheers - mike

Hi all have had a steady morning on the van the drivers side a pillar and the front step have been carpeted. I have fitted the main parts of the kitchen unit, was a bit worried about getting the fridge in as its very snug. I usually leave a 10mm gap on the sides but wanted a neater fit.I may need to add a couple of vent to the panel under the fridge but this can be done, if required, once I have trialled everything. Now that the main kitchen carcass is in I can measure up and make the wardrobe end panel. This will be the most challenging panel on the van to build. It needs fitting to the side wall of the van and fitting to the floor and the fixed part of the bed. Hope to have it done this afternoon. Cheers - mike

Hi all the kitchen panels are now ready for final fitting, just needing the pocket holes drilling now I am happy with the fit. In the morning I hope to trim the front step and door pillar area and run the fridge for a few hours to check its operating correctly so I can then screw them in permanently. As its a nice day we are off the Knaresborough for a pint and fish and chips for tea. Cheers - mike
