That looks nice, when we were looking for one back in April my local Alfa specialist in Tamworth was asking nearly £2500 for one. It was nothing special and yours looks comfortably as good.
Should shift at £1k I would have thought. Nice car

I'm looking for help. I came across an Alfa breakers on a website recently and I can't for the life of me find it again. In my head it wasn't a million miles away from Coventry. Does anybody know where this place is or have I imagined it. The reason for the question is a lad at work has a 156 V6 the clutch was starting to slip so he bought a clutch to repair but now something has gone wrong with a sensor that measures the throttle input which means he gets nothing then full beans. To sum up he has had enough of it and was hoping the Alfa specialist would give him a bit more than a regular breaker.
Any advice on where this breaker is would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Karl

This Chevette is sooo nice. Everytime I see it at work it makes me regret so much selling mine. If I had of had your inspiration I may have kept mine.
Good luck with the sale, hope it goes soon to stop me drooling ;D

Cheers for the link. Weird one, are they still there? Don't understand why tax was due in different years for different cars. WOuld love to know the story.......... Its taken me 3 weeks of lunchbreaks and evening views to get to then end of this thread, people at work think I am mad for getting sentimental at the cars on here but I find it very sad that people just leave cars to die like that. Anyhooo that garage is close to my nans and is still owned and lease paid for. Out of curiosity I phoned the number about a year ago and got through to the guys house. iirc he had stopped trading due to an illness with a family member but the cars are all still for sale. He seemed an approachable guy and would talk the hind legs off you. If the number isn't visible from the shots that have been posted then i can get it next time I am over that way if anyones interested. Cheers Mull

Oh forgot to say the tax is worth about £135 cashed in, so £110ish on top of the ton.
The car is far to good to scrap but I had to get something newer for the wife and kids.

Baz,
I will try and get some pics tonight. It's really tidy the only marks are a dink on the boot and a bit of rust on passenger rear sill (not rotten) and wheel arch not rotten. Driver side a bit of bubbling on rear arch.
The garage said its definitely the spring, described as the last inch of the pigs tale.

Model: 5 door hatchback 1.8 Verona
Year: 1998
Mileage: 106k
Tax: officially til Jan 2010 but I am about to surrender it from the end of this month. If someone wants to buy the tax I'll leave it on
MOT: July 09
Pics: none sorry
Location: Birmingham not far from the NEC
This is a quick add as the car will be going to the scrappy on Friday if nobody wants it. Scrappy offered £100. We bought the car last October as a stop gap and I thought we had been stitched up as by the time I got home it was leaking oil. All was not lost as it was just a leaking oil pressure sensor seal. Since then it has been totally reliable and racked up some good miles. Not the most inspiring car but just keeps going.
However last Tuesday I brimmed the tank with petrol as always and it started to leak on the way to my local garage it threw a front spring. Anyway the fuel leak was the seal where the pipe meets the tank so not a problem if you don't brim it and the spring was replaced. However they noticed that the other one was crack in its mounting. The car drives fine but this will need replacing.
On to the car its in that kind of mauve colour with a small dent in the boot and a bit of rust here and there. Alloy wheels with pretty much brand new 195/65 Avon tyres (cost me £250), spare is a steel with very good Michelin (it may be new can't remember). Its mega reliable uses no oil or water. Has A/C new compressor fitted but needs gassing. Standard Ford stereo with 6 cd multichanger. Heated front and rear windows, electric front windows. Temp gauge doesn't work, and you have to open the fuel flap from in the boot.
I gotta say spares or repair but with a spring it would roll on for years.
Car will go to the scrapper Friday afternoon as I need the space for the wifes car.
Interested PM me
Cheers
Karl

I love this car but it will surely be gone by the time I can afford to take a look, I have to pay for my building work at the end of March before I know how much I have. . Well,at the rate cars are shifting at the mo,i may well still have it then...I'll probably give it a couple of weeks on here then hand it over to the vultures on ebay ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) my god I'm so tempted by this, only problem is the mr2 price has fallen through the floor so id be lucky to get 2k for mine ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) such a lovely car! I want! ![:'(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cry.png) Sell the bike.....it doesn't have enough wheels anyway! ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) Please update on here before trying the dreaded bay. I notice you have it on a classic car website aswell. I really like this but can't commit til the money has been allocated. I know if I came to look I'd really want. Just a quick question do you have any trouble with the front tyres rubbing

I've been without a toy since i let the Chevette go last year and am currently slogging around in a worthy but dull Mondeo 1.8.
I'm hoping to have some money to spend up to £1k in April on something a bit more fun.
It must meet the following criteria. be able to fit me as I'm 6ft6in, do a daily commute 30 mile round trip, be in the low tax band, prefer 3 door and have tuning / styling potential.
Idea's so far have been MG Metro, Pug 205 XS, Nova SR, Fiesta Mk2 1.4S, Honda CRX but I really need some idea away from the norm that I have listed above.
Come on guys give me a hit list and reason why.
Cheers
