Gutted to be selling my ’83 Vauxhall Chevette saloon in GL trim, but I have to think about buying a house!
This car is featured in the current (August) Retro Cars Magazine and also appears in the current PVW and Golf + magazines. It has also won a trophy for Top 5 Retro car at the recent Old Skool & Dub Mania Skool show. It was on display on the Retro Cars Stand at Retro Show last weekend at Santa Pod, so you might have seen it!

The car has recently had a complete restoration and full 2-pack re-spray in its original colour. During the resto is had a number of new parts including brakes and ARB drop links (and loads of other stuff I can’t remember!). The car flew through it’s MOT which is valid until June 7th 2010 and It’s taxed until 30th September 09.
I purchased the car totally standard and made a few subtle modifications to the suspension and wheels:
The car has been lowered roughly 125mm on Saab 900 front springs and features platform adjustable coilovers at the rear. The wheels are 7x13” Superlites fitted with 175-50-13 tyres. I have fitted the original GL wheel trims over the alloys to keep it looking as standard and OEM+ as possible. I have also fitted new pressed number plates.

The standard exhaust has been extensively modified to increase ground clearance and features a flexible joint so if you do scrape it, should lift up! The system now exits behind the driver’s side rear wheel (not shown in all the pics).

The interior is in excellent condition, especially the seats. The drivers carpet is a little ripped in the foot well, but this is covered with a mat so it not an issue. There is a 4 speaker stereo system in the car which has been trimmed in matching fabric so it can’t be seen. The car will come with a period push button radio that will need fitting. I do have a CD player in there now, but it is only borrowed. What this does mean, is there is a wiring loom in place to fit a modern CD player if you wish.

I have removed the standard clock from the dash binnacle and fitted a 52mm TIM rev counter in its place; It looks like it came from the factory!

Apart from that the car is completely standard and having only covered 42k Miles from new, it drives like new! This is backed up with old MOTs and a big pile of service info including documentation to show it has had a new clutch, so no worries there.
I have changed the oil, oil filter air filter, battery ground strap, spark plugs and fan belt today (17-07-07) as well as tuned the carb so it really is ready to go! It has also been thoroughly wax oiled underneath and in all the box sections…Can you tell I wanted to keep it?!
The car will come with the original springs and wheels with nearly new tyres on.
I have covered just over two thousand miles in this car and it has run faultlessly. It uses no oil or water and returns 40+MPG all day!
The car is located in Tamworth, just a couple of mins from J10 of the M42.
