Almost, but not quite, full now. There are some lovely cars on RR and I hope a few (more) of you will come along. Spectators also welcome

I really don't get the love for the Escort IV - V etc. They're nothing special technically and are pretty dismal to drive. Anyway, each to their own. How about a Fiat 126? They're a bit of an oddity but with the engine in the back and a dinky size they're quite appealing to work on. Good luck

Instead of confusing folks by bumping last year's thread (somewhere below this one), here's a new one for the 2015 "car club 18-30" trackday for modern classics run by MotorPunk. In a nutshell, we want modern classics, the cool, quick or quirky stuff that was either designed or in production 18-30 years ago. It's non-competitive, we don't want super-tuned Imprezas driven by loons, the idea is to encourage folks onto track for the first time in good company in the sunshine at Blyton. This will be the 4th event we've done, it's run at cost, and is sort of invitation-only (so we get the right crowd). I hope that makes sense. All the details are online here: www.motorpunk.co.uk/carclub-18-30/motorpunk-trackday-may-1st-2015-blyton-park/ The report from last year's event is online here: www.motorpunk.co.uk/carclub-18-30/the-events/2014-motorpunk-18-30-trackday/Some choice pics of the things we like to see: Fancy it? I have met some great people on these events, it's informal, friendly and there no-one is out to emulate Senna. There'll be shandies the night before too.

Isn't this the same machine that Jonny Smith (who also posts here, IIRC) is converting to some daft monster EV drag racer called Flux Capacitor?

Ironic that such an unhappy looking machine can make so many people happy! I love it. Keep us updated with pics, please

I'm going to let you all into one of my little secrets here: Motorpunk (AKA Retro Rides regular tdk) wanted some pin badges making for when they were attending one of the shows at Goodwood. They wanted their logo not just printed onto a conventional badge, but cut to the shape of their 'bonnet badge' logo too. In order to get the look of the classic black & white they use for the logo, I painted a sheet of white acrylic with satin black paint. The logo was then drawn up in my software with the majority of the logo set to become an engraving path but with the outline of the logo set as a cutting path. When the badges were made, the laser engraved away the black paint to reveal the white acrylic beneath. The logo magically appeared...followed by the shape of the logo being cut out to form the badge itself. They took a little while to clean off all the waste vapour dust left from the engraving, but once all clean and a brooch pin adhered to the back of each one, they really looked the part. The guys themselves were pleased with them too. Custom work is always a pleasure to do.... Thanks for the mention. You made those for my sidekick, Dr Octane, I have one at home and it looks great.

The steering wheel needs even more buttons and the interior should be even browner! Love it.

What an inspriational tale. I hope the oafs that spannered this together in France some day learn of the love you've put into restoring the old girl.
Good luck, Sir!

Treat it like the Revival, but with a broader timescale in terms of the cars you'll see. Also, much smaller crowds! Splendid. Thanks. What's the deal on dress code? My revival wardrobe cost me a packet but I don't want to turn up looking like a reject from 'allo 'allo casting.

I've got a ticket for this. I'm a regular at the Revival and have done FOS, but have no idea what to expect from the MM. Any pointers?

Phone them! The DVLA aren't always the idiots people say. They need to prove it was you that wrote SCRAP on the paperwork, and they can't. Just explain and be polite, they'll sort it eventually
