Long time with no update, probably due to nothing really happening over the winter due to a few family problems but the better weather has made me get my finger out my backside. As said in my last post the Punto was the one to go. Surprisingly even with an honest description about how much welding and work it needed it still fetched just shy of a grand on eBay The Alfa is currently down my yard looking sorry for itself, four flat tyres and slowly getting more and more green. The fiesta is still in my mums garage untouched and the Corsa has sat on the drive only being moved now and again when it's in the way. But despite the lack of motivation I still found time to buy another one a few months back. I give you a '93 Clio 1.8 16v Had a good look over it and it seams pretty solid to be honest and appears to have been well looked after in the past. Last on the road in 2014 and came with stacks of history. One thing I did notice though it seams to have had a light front ender at some point as a few things didn't add up, like the bonnet had holes for bonnet pins but the car didn't have or has no evidence of pins being fitted. Also the front bumper was missing it's fog lights and looked to have been painted. I've managed to find another bonnet so I decided the first job was to start stripping the front end to see what lies beneath

Been meaning to post this up but have just found the time to, saw this presumably dumped ? on Croydon road about 3/4 weeks ago en route parts collecting stuff for my Cortina.. such a shame had loads of notes stuffed under the wiper and was unlocked! amazed it wasn't towed away what with being on Croydon road! number plate is mint for the car (if you know you know!) and being a viva estate rare as hens teeth. no doubt it has gone by now?..shame. That's mega sad to see, it's was someone's daily it's been around there for years. Never seems to move far but did on occasions. I bet someone thought it would be "fun" to put all the windows through on it It's still tested to July this year - hopefully it will have gone for repair. Maybe the owner was taken ill after it had been parked there? Or possibly stolen and the owner never bothered to report it thinking it wasn't worth it being such an old car? Probably a sad story behind it

It's a V6, 190 aswell if the badge is correct. So would be quite rare for it to be head gasket failure.

I owned a satria sport some years ago as temporary "between cars" transport. Think it was a 1.5? Auto. Had the same body kit as the gti just with smaller alloys and different interior trim.
It seamed well built and I gave it death for a few months it never let me down.
On the other hand a mate owned a new 2007 proton gen 2 for a while and that was a truly god awful car.

I really am impressed with my Bino Cooper S. However if that's not your thing then fair enough. Stay away from the ST fiesta, I had one and it was such a let down and overall disappointment. . I agree with you, I too have owned both a fiesta st and a cooper s. The cooper s was one of the most fun cars I've ever owned although it was a works tuned edition. On the other hand the ST was a massive let down, you would think a big 2.0 engine in such a small car would be rapid but it really isn't. The fiesta handled well though and was built a damn site better than the bini.

I remember a common mod back in the day was to use a Citroen Ax centre console in the metro's.

Water will eventually evaporate out of oil anyway. Suppose it depends how bad it is.

Been discussed on here many times. There is some bad eggs in the banger community but the majority are actually willing to help enthusiasts out.
Some of the cars may be rare but if you actually looked close up at most of them you would soon see they were far to rotten to ever warrant being returned to the road and atleast most spares are sold off to help keep others alive.

The fact the exhaust has been pulled off its hangers and there's grass/mud hanging off the lower arms it's probably been punted down a ditch somewhere.

Just to add another side to it, some years ago my mate put £20's worth of unleaded into his diesel x-type. Had the same idea as you and brimmed the rest with diesel but it still killed the engine after a few miles.
Sounds like your safe though after that much driving with no issues.

Not really sure but I've been car mad for as long as I can remember.
Could of been from my dad, he was into cars but wouldn't say he was a car nut. He did do all of his own maintenance on his own cars/vans though, many happy memories helping him as a kid getting my hands dirty and probably where I learnt a lot of what I know now.
Also could of been the fact that my nan worked for Rover and my Grandad worked for LandRover in my early years.
I remember what got me into modifiying cars though, when I was around 8 in the mid 90's there used to be a "boy racer" that lived a couple of doors down who would of been around 18 at the time. He was often out working on one of his cars in the street and him and his mates had some real nice cars.Opel Monza, Manta Gte, mk3 xr3, metro turbo, mk1 golf gti, Carlton gsi and nova gsi are the cars that spring to mind all subtly modified in that 90's style. Sure I've got pictures of some of them somewhere

I grew up in the late 80's-90's and we wasn't exactly a well off family at the time. My dad had the mindset of buying a cheap banger and running it for as long as he could on a shoestring until it got to the point of costing more to fix than it was worth (de did most repairs himself) His idea must of worked though as he tended to keep cars for years so there wasn't many cars to remember from my childhood and most of them were French (Renaults and Peugeots.) One car that I still miss to this day though was one of these that we had in blue... phase 1 Renault 9 turbo. Was sold to a local boy racer who killed it, left it on his front garden rotting for about 6 years before finally being scrapped.

Tried the turning of blocks but as already said they arnt tapered underneath.
Over the years I've tried brick acid, proper block paving cleaner, coke, washing up liquid, de-greaser, pressure washing etc but nothing seams to work.
Only thing that eventually gets it off after around six months is rain water.
