Back in the days when I was running MG-Rovers as dailys those chrome mirror caps used to fetch good money on ebay, so may be an ideal finding some standard ones to paint and selling the chrome ones ones.
Things may have changed over the past couple of years though. They fit the 75/ZT and 25/ZR too.

I notice your rear bumper has dropped on one side? Is it suffering from the usual 400 rotten bumper bracket syndrome? If so Ive got a pair of fairly solid ones in the garage if your interested?

All I was getting at was why does there has to always be a sob story involved... I tell you why "because it gets viewers"
It's not just car sos, it happens with a lot of tv programs nowadays. Xfactor, BGT just to name a few. What about everyone else that has a car that needs restoring but they can't because either they have ran out of money or not got the time etc?

There was a topic about this on TV a few months back, sure it was on BBC news. Apparently there is more 70's cars still on UK roads than 80's cars.
They put it down to the fact that 60's/70's cars "looked" like classics so we're more desirable where as 80's/90's cars were so bland and modern looking that most are overlooked unless it was something special.

Similar story in Birmingham a couple of years back. The council pulled a couple of cars out a lake, one being an xr3i believed to have been in the water since the 80's.

When I passed my test in 2004 I did all the usual insurance quotes on the common young driver cars at the time. Corsa's, Nova's, clio's, 1.0's, 1.2's etc and everything was well over a grand for insurance.
Started looking out of the ordinary and was amazed how much more a car I could get for much less insurance premium. I ended up with a 95' Rover 214 sei for my first car. All the electrics, half leather seats, alloy wheels all as standard and cost me £750 for a years insurance.
A lot of my mates were driving poverty spec 1.0 corsa's which didn't even have power steering other than one mate who went the same route as me and had a 1.6 LX mondeo for his first car, again for much less insirNce than the others were paying.

My whole tool collection is halfords pro. I also have the black tool chest shown in the link and I'm now thinking of buying another as mines almost full.
The only difference is I've paid fraction for all my tools than what they would of cost new. Reason being there's a guy on my local market that buys wholesale pallets of Ex halfords returns stock. I got my tool chest off him for £120 just because the top box had a dent on the side. Still brand new in its packaging it had just been damaged in transit. All the tools I've had off him are either because there's a couple of bits missing from the set or damaged packaging, easily made up from loose items he sells. I usually have stuff off him every week.

At a guess I'd say the suspension knock is the front upper rubber strut mount/bush. Very common on the ka and doesn't take much wear in them before it'll start to cause knocking, apparently they all used to fail the mot on them until the ministry added a note in the inspection manual to allow more tolerance for play on Ka's, or so my tester tells me anyway. Done a couple and they're not to difficult to replace and only a couple of quid on eBay.
Best way to check is jack up each front corner until the wheel is a few mm off the ground then use something under the wheel to try and lever the strut up and down. You'll feel if there's any excessive movement.

I used to own a 106 quicksilver that would only overheat uphill.
You could leave it idle in traffic for hours, sit at 70 on the motorway all day and it would never get hot but the first sight of an incline and the temp guage would shoot to the red. Changed the thermostat for a lower temp rated one in the end. Still ran hot up hills but stopped at 3/4's on the gauge rather than off the scale.

Some drivers have cars stock piled for years before they find the right meeting to use them.
I know of a driver that has been teasing people with pics of a jag e-type for a couple of years now but it still hasn't seen the track yet.

Have you considered listing it as a Classified advert with Make an offer? It's £15 for 28 day listing, you can revise the listing as often as you want & people can make you offers that you don't have to accept. Only down side is, if you want it gone in a set time, it's not forced to sell. Good luck with the re-list! Agreed, I always use classified. Less time wasters and no final value fees either!
