Me too, I'm only down the Road in Ipswich . Might park in the public carpark though. I don't like the thought of being trapped on the Field for 5 hours if I wanted to go early I'm Ipswich too dude, what do you drive? must have spotted you around at some point Currently a Mitsubishi Lancer Estate as a daily , and A rover P4 100 for fun, though it's not been out and about for long so I doubt you've spotted it yet.

some of these spaces are incredible - mine is undercover and dry , In the process of insulating it at the moment. I just wish I'd gone a little wider with it.

We now have an MOT ! Though The picture below was the first attempt - didn't make it. Dez - Had to come to the rescue and tow me to the workshop. It turned out the fuel pickup pipe in the tank was completely silted up - these things run a reserve pipe like a motorcycle, though not anymore the solenoid to switch it was also knackered. Although the car ran perfectly well whilst stationary, it wasn't filling the float bowl fast enough to keep running at road speed. The float was also mostly full of fuel - and the condenser was knackered - amazed it ran at all really. anyway after a bit of faff a week later it got a ticket The exhaust however is too loud for me , so will need a silencer of some description , though I'd like to be able to keep the tone, just a bit quieter. Then it's time for front end lows , a few repairs and some better paint work . Maybe seatbelts too so I can take the little one Happy Times!

Final Bits of MOT prep on My P4 100 , sealing an exhaust manifold leak, fitting front numberplate and getting the horn working. Providing the weather is good, The car has been kicked out of the garage so I could store some building materials.

A few little updates ; I had a chance to get the wheels blasted for cheap! and I resprayed them with rattle cans, Then I bought some Avon Turbos That Dez had laying around in his way, They fill the rear arch nicely but the front of these cars is always nose bleed inducing high for some reason, unintended gasser look. Cheeky side pipe fitted using bits and bobs I had in the garage as well as a couple of new joints the brakes were sorted and bled, and to my surprise started to feel like actual working brakes! Then as of yesterday I actually got to drive it, just a cheeky blat up the road and back, it's actually going to be too loud I think, Might need a silencer in the system. anyway, a bulb , and a few last fettles should hopefully see it gain an MOT certificate Feeling much better about it now than I was when it was up on axle stands looking sorry for itself!

As above, wanted , a pair of clamp on peep mirrors , condition not too important as long as they are useable.
Cheers

Indeed the grille was Chevy chopped down , the roof had been chopped and I believe replaced with part of a transit roof. The bonnet front end was from a Morris minor crudely grafted onto the original bonnet. The seats had been replaced with a leather bench seat from a saab if I recall correctly. I sold it to a guy in Devon and have not heard anything about it since. I would assume it has been scrapped sadly. If you didn't know, you'd struggle to recognise a Fairway under there. That grille is an inspired piece of choppery, looks like something from a Chevvy stepside or a very early 50s Vauxhall, whatever, It looks perfectly at home on the cab. Mirrors are bang on too! Do I detect a soupcon of roof chop too? Steve

As Dave said, Progress has been made . But painfully slowly , I'm having to get in the Garage when the little one is asleep - which isn't very often . Anyway, Fuel pump - replaced as the ultra cheap solid state broke. electrics changed from posi to Negi earth . Brake cylinders rebuilt and refitted. Mini Mp3 amp bought to be fitted with hidden speakers under the front seats. Cleaned up front discs and pads , cleaned up front wheel wells and sparked a huge debate on the p4 drivers guild re the "floating brake cylinders" and which way is correct as apparently they shouldn't be tight to the back plate in order to centre the shoes. next up bleeding the brakes to see where else they leak from - and perhaps a BBQ to entice some Mates round to lend a hand whilst the little'un and Mum head off to Nanna's house.

I can find lots of alloys, but wondered if anyone knew of any cars with 5x114.3 steels, in 15" or 16" I can't seem to find many. Thanks for any suggestions

Did the coolant boil off or leak out somewhere? I'd be checking the water pump as a potential source of the clattering. I'd strongly advise against driving it, thats for sure. Check the oil hasn't got water in it too.
Good luck on getting it sorted!

um , why may I ask?
You need more fuel , less air as far as I know . I'm just not sure why you'd want to?
