One of my cars is tax exempt so based purely on my own experience - yes, you have to act on it. You go through the process online as if it’s a modern car, but it just nil rates the amount.
I didn’t do mine at first as I thought I didn’t have to as there was nothing to pay but then got a letter saying I was untaxed.

IIRC the facelift 2005 was slightly better from a electric gremlins point of view, based on a friend that owned both. I've always liked the look of them and actually prefer the non-facelift. There was a film that came out around 2007 that had a black one on aftermarket wheels - I remember at the time thinking that it looked ace and it's always stuck with me. Personally, I'd be looking at the S-Class range of similar vintage. Lots and lots of toys on those things and as I've mentioned before on here, mine had 270/280K on the clock and it drove faultless. I'd have another in a heartbeat if I was looking for a cheap luxo barge. I had a 2004 for two years, they were always pretty good. Facelift has a refreshed interior (2002 52 plate onwards with the crystal headlights). Only issue that plagued them at the time were torque convertors. Also the front drains block with leaves and make the passenger carpet soggy if not kept clear.

This has been my wife's daily for five years, and it's done 62,000 miles in that time. We've recently bought another car to ferry the kids around in so this doesn't take such a beating, plus she's now doing two days a week so we'll give it an easier life from here on in. We bought it from the original owner in 2015 with 85,000 on the clock and 17 Lexus dealer stamps in the book then drove it to Bonn, Munich, complete the Grossglockner alpine pass, down to Venice, then Monaco, Dijon, Paris and back to London.

On the Facebook mobile app you can move the centre point for the 200 mile search. In the first picture if you click where it says “London 19km” it loads the next picture and you can just type in another location.

Only very basic requests but I bought a car a couple of weeks ago on a Wednesday. I did the owner update online and the V5 came two days later on Friday.
The next week I switched number plates on the car on the Friday and the upated logbook arrived the following Tuesday.
I was actually quite impressed!

Well it only took three months. One year olds twins, working from home and general chaos meant that the MG got pushed to the back of the queue and I put the car on SORN. This weekend my wife took the children to her see her parents so in anticipation I ordered a few bits from Moss and put the battery win charge last night. First job was to dig the car out. It basically became a table. After clearing the car and pushing it out I could have a go on the headache bolt gain. Here's the suspect earth cable. I still couldn't get it to do anything apart from spin around so I went to Screwfix. Finally started to get somewhere. The washer came off first then bit by bit I got the rest off. Then got the new one on easily. As suggested I cleaned the battery connections and but on some battery grease - and hey presto, it worked! Thank you for all the comments and pointers, I took it for a trip to Oxford on the back roads and there was no sign of any clicking on any of the startups.

Thanks guys, lots to follow up on there! I'm planning on pushing the car out of the garage at the weekend as it is a bit easier to get access. I'll see how the WD40 has worked but I'm only one mile from a Screwfix and they have some of the stuff Phil H suggested in stock. I thought about getting some locking pliers too to put on the nut as it is tricky to get a good grip on it whilst trying to turn the nut.

A frayed earth cable rarely helps.. Word of wisdom - WD40 is certainly better than nothing but there are considerably better releasing fluids out there such as PlusGas or Duck Oil (yes, it's a thing and before you ask I believe the Duck reference is due to its water displacement capabilities). Others have sworn on a mix of Acetone and Automatic Transmission fluid but I find PlusGas (GT40 isn't bad, or AC-90 from Toolstation) much better personally from experience. Thanks for the pointers, if I don't have any luck getting it off I'll grab one of those

Thanks for the comments :-) It is a bit of a 10 foot car in all honesty, but it's got patina / character. I think those are the terms for stone chips and dings now.

I’m trying to find a 97/98 C2 manual, these most likely had the double row IMS and cable throttle making them quite a rare motor... Yep, snap. If I get one I'll look for a throttle cable car. They include MY99 too IIRC as the chagne was sometime in 2000. Don't want a Tip, but don't mind C2/C4 tbh

Sorry for the lack of reply! Yes, it's a 12v. I got all the bits delivered including the battery terminal cleaner.
I took the battery out and the terminals look ok but the clamps have a bit of surface rust. The earth lead is frayed so I think that's probably something to get swapped out. The nut and bolt was absolutely rusted holding it in and I could not for the life of me undo it. I've sprayed some WD40 on it and left it.
I'll get some pictures up and see if the consensus is in agreement. I've got 9 month old twins which doesn't help with getting things done quickly!

I looked through the lots yesterday and saw the Silver Spirit with no reserve. I think it is best that I don't register or watch the auction!

Battery terminal cleaners will be a Godsend here for your battery terminals. They're not alot of money from Amazon either. huh, would never even known that was a thing. Arriving on Wednesday

Dielectric grease is only needed in areas you'll get arcing. The arc creates carbon which gives a route for electricity to go where you don't want. If it's not somewhere which will arc then it doesn't need to be dielectric. I only found that out the other week. 🙂 Thanks. I've found some battery clamp grease so I'll get that
