Well I have drilled out the broken bleed valve with progressively larger Left handed drills.....and it has not cleared out the old thread. So then I tried the other calliper...and broke the smallest drill. So then I decided to get both callipers out. Despite the Haynes book saying it just needed the hand brake section removing and calliper bolts undoing - it also needed the wheels removing, coil over removing, half shafts unbolting etc etc!!! Then I looked up the price of replacement callipers....Plan B is to try and get mine repaired by recutting the bleed hole thread and getting an oversize bleed valve.

The panel face is just about finished. Then I made up some brake pipes to the rear callipers. and put in a little manual line-loc...... just in case! As everything had gone quite well I then connected to the brake master cylinder and got that pumping brake fluid. Then I tried opening the bleed valves on the rear callipers ........and have broken both of them!

Only a bit of work done recently in getting the instrument panel face cover sorted.

There were a couple of problems that have now been sorted. The front wheel dropped out as the nuts weren't tightened properly and the "eared" washer had the ears in the slotted hole.... But this took out a brake block so a spare had to be found and used. Also, the lateral location of the back axle was not sufficient as the spacer tube did not have enough wall thickness, a couple of washers has fixed that so all is now good.

Lots of gardening done....and a tiny bit more on the BGT. I have moved the fuel pump so that I can run the fuel lines through the tunnel and mount the battery isolator on the existing bracket. I will be boxing it off as well.

Back in March, I noticed that the storms had ripped a section off the brake van roof covering. The Ops dept moved it to Rothley and just before the lockdown I was able to replace that section, but was not able to put the new fixing strips in before the shed was closed.

..... Re the wheels , i bored a hole in my spare , and did not like it , so i am now leaning ..very slightly.... to keeping my wheels as they are with a little brass emblem in the middle .
......I can't think why but I had a sudden image of Ben Hur chariot wheels with knives and slashing devices...then James Bond DB5 and protruding Wheel spinners.Looking forward to seeing how this plan evolves Robert!

I hadn't realised before that the rear suspension seems similar to a Frogeye Sprite with the upper torque link and lower sort of quarter elliptic arrangement....I also didn't know about the ERA connection. However I did know that they were highly regarded and competed at Le Mans in the 50's....I think?? Great work - as ever GN!

Knowing the costs of 1/2" bolts compared to 13mm would it be feasable to open all the holes up to 13mm? Years ago I was approached to make some machines. Customer was a right player. Had been overheard in the Pub shooting his mouth off that once he had the first one from me,he was going to cancel the remainder of the order for the other nine machines, and get somebody else to copy them and make them cheaper. So ,first line of defence was to work like a dog, stall a little bit delivery wise and then deliver all ten at the same time. Plan thwarted, he decided not to pay. Not a problem, the court decided in my favour, with costs, and they attached some property of his . I got paid ...😁 Second line of defence. Never got another order, but if anybody ever comes across quilting machines that use M6,5x 1.25mm pitch fasteners, that was my insurance policy to make it very difficult to get spares anywhere else.....🤣🤣🤣 Thread hijack over... The Company that I used to work for also made machines, and the old machines used bolts/nuts with a thread based on BSF but with a slightly different TPI. They had a tool room to make the special taps and dies.... .
