Having never dealt with a stolen car before......and just talked to the the insurance 'claims handler'
1 Insurance saying that they will pay storage until an engineer looks at it and decides on damage category. After this they will then move it to their storage where it will be delivered to me 'free of charge'. On the proviso it is a cat c or d.
2 do I do this or do I get it home and get the engineer to come to to my house.
My head says 1 but I do not believe they will deliver.
My heart says 2. The main drawback would be I am putting a lot of people out to get it home.

Hi All, Would like to say thanks for all the good comments that came my way after the car was half inched. Well the car has been found in a scrappy and after over 3 weeks of not being able to get at it as the police buggered about. I got a look today. The good news is. It is not as bad as it could be the bad news is it looks like the engine is mullered as it is behaving like an oil colander. Hence this Post.. Has anyone got a car trailer I could borrow or their time and a trailer. It is costing me 20 pound a day and I have not come to an agreement with the insurance company yet. Thanks for all the positive comments gents. It has helped. Anyway after having a mare getting there we were late so I had the owner of the recovery firm hovering as I looked it over. He would not allow me to work on it on the premises. A quick look found. The bodywork is dirty but OK except for the drivers door had 2 dents and a some marks on the B pillar. Drivers door lock was a little buggered The interior is fine apart from the munching of the steering lock and the cowling (curse word to find in good nick) Note OIL can! and look at the position of the clutch pedal... Looks like it has a buggered clutch or the pedal box has on the bulkhead is broken again no time to check. So far fairly good so I try to start it and the starter motor just whines as though fully engaged. Rocked her in gear and it seemed to release. But no action from the starter now at all. Not sure if the the starter button was bypassed in the hotwire or the battery is just dead. Not enough time to sort it out anyway. ... as the owner is still hovering and it is nearly time to close. Now for the worst part the recovery firm owner had mentioned oil dripping (Remember the oil bottle). He was not joking....The new puddle is from just rocking her back a couple of feet. Did not have time to dive under and have a decko but with that much oil leaking I was not risking paying and not being able to get it started and or the engine seizing driving it the 40 odd miles to Bristol. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I am now looking for a way of getting the car from Cheltenham to Thornbury ASAP as it is £20 a day storage Can anyone help?
