Wow, that went with a pop.
Never having been to a dyno, are the electrical brakes normally bigger than that? Coming from an industrial background it doesn't look very big even with forced cooling.

You're probably right! It's amazing how much MG/Rover you can buy for peanuts these days!

I don't think its an R154, there's a pair of drain and fill plugs on the side shown in the second set of pictures. On mine they were towards the back of the main gearcase part, the fill about halfway up and the drain at the bottom (but still on the side).
I'm on my phone but I'll try to get a couple of my very unclear pics up.

These guys issue certificates stating the age of British cars, based on original archives. Might be worth asking if they have any archives on engines? Heritage Motor Centre

Looks R154ish, do you have a picture of the other side? I'm comparing it to limited photos I took of my '89 Supra. Mine had the clutch slave cylinder on the side shown, but that could be specific to the Supra.

Me too, I had pictured a little Italian restaurant and an oily 6-cyl Toyota diesel on the last thread

It's the s-type R that had the manual option. Most had the auto though. Oh, I might start looking at them again then

I think they just look cooler. But I also wear flares and have wood paneling in the living room.
I like being able to fix them with hand-tools, coathangers and bits of wire. But I am also dead tight, new cars are expensive and depreciate.

Looks cool what stud pattern do they use? Any wheel plans yet?

I have to say, that looks suspiciously like an auto box... Here's the link. Was the NA V8 S-Type offered with a manual box? I know the supercharged 'R' was auto only.

0.27 volts doesn't sound too bad. Are you earthing to the body through the light fitting? Just need to make sure there's good contact. The difference could just be in the bulbs, as mentioned.
Sounds like you know what you're doing though. Yes, more fuses is better! It just makes looms more complicated and expensive for the manufacturer.

Great idea for using the 1uz in a 944, is there anything that engine won't work in?
Where's the clutch on a 944 drivetrain?

Instagram is a mobile based photo sharing network. I didn't get it for ages but now I have developed a full on fascination in post war architecture. You take pictures with your phone then use the app to modify them, adding filters etc... you then offer them to the world and attach #hashtags allowing other users to find them by searching. This is the web-version: instagram.com/_sam90_/

A chap on an mx5 forum is raffling his car. 50 tickets, winner is the lottery bonus ball number. Seems a fair way to do it...

I should probably be extra clear, connecting the breather properly would be best. Sealing off the port at the plenum will hopefully get you away for now, or at least eliminate another possibility.

If there's no pipe it needs to be blocked at the plenum/throttle body end, just wanted to be clear

^^This first.
If it moves the problem might be fuel pressure, maybe a blocked filter, kinked hose, nearly empty tank (happened to me!).
If the revs don't pick up when the throttle is open it's either not getting enough fuel or the ignition timing is out.

Hmm... have these two pipes been plugged imgur.com/WoP0AzH or dealt with accordingly ? Sorry just seen this. The vacuum is now connected to the brake servo as mentioned by Gavin and I've just removed the preheater. T he larger pipe from the throttle body goes to the breathers on the rockers from what I can find online which at the min they don't but didn't think this would cause too much of an issue as I thought it was just a breather?!? Is that not true? If so I might try and get some breather tube tmw and hook that up!! Did you fit the breather pipe or block it at the plenum end? Either would be ok to get it running. If you fitted the breather pipe make sure the rocker cover gaskets seal and the oil filler cap is tight enough, the engine needs to be airtight for the breather to work. If it isn't airtight the breather pipe will suck air in like any other air leak. I found this when I forgot to re-fit my oil filler cap once! Keep at it, you don't sound far away
