I've got a similar bike rack and Discovery, you can get a 'swan neck' adapter for the bike rack and leave the lower bracket mounted behind the tow ball.
But your solution looks just as good, if you're not towing.
I hope you've also got a light board as you've got trailer electrics.

There are some horrendous videos linked in a similar Piston heads thread. Kinda reminds me of Group B, stupid power, stupid spectators and it gets banned. Except in Group B you can't blame the drivers. Standing in a stupid place with a camera (or phone etc) isn't anything new. I spectated at the '76 RAC Rally stage at Donnington and standing on the outside of a bend ended up with mud clods hitting the side of my camera lens. I've only been to drag racing twice back when they had a few meetings at Blackbushe, both times managed to get on the start line.
What ever happened to the 'Panic' funny car? There was also a well known Willys that managed to roll at one of the meetings, 'Slick willy'. I must dig out some pictures.

Good luck - I also offer the same service in my neck of the woods but only has aside to the main restoration business - all the vehicles that go through the workshop for restoration get treated with Dinitrol along with a handful of classics every year that get booked in purely for rust prevention treatment application Now that's a bit closer to home (I think), but I wouldn't want to lower the tone at grumpy towers... |

I've just noticed on the Green Maxi the silver trim is missing on the passenger side, wonder if that is common or just my sample. Spoken to Modelstore, where I bought it, and a replacement is on it's way. Great service. |

If only you were closer... I'm looking to get the underside of the MX5 sorted, nothing structural just surface rust. Book a long weekend away in God’s country 😎😉 It's even further to drive from Exmoor (that's my idea of God's country)... I can't even use God's Wonderful Railway. I do go to Leeds for business occasionally but it's not really insured for business use. |

Looks like it's been in good company.
I took my MX5 back to the body-shop for under-sealing yesterday and they had an early Lotus Elan in for work in Gold Leaf livery, looked so small. I did say to be careful not to mix them up...

Mine is early enough not to have a cat at all, Correction all MX5's have a cat, although the imports are smaller. I haven't checked mine yet as it's back at the body-shop having the under-seal put in the front arches. Won't get much of a chance to do anything this weekend, exhaust or seat related, as I'm going to a horse show on Saturday and Sunday is work to pay for it all. Just read through this, absolutely love MK1 Mx5's great little sports cars. glad to see people like yourself keeping them on the road and I shall be looking forward to see how it progress'. I owned a little mariner blue MK1 a couple of years ago as a summer project, safe to say it didn't go well should've kept it though miss it quite bad. Thanks, they do look nice in blue. I'm sure your Spitfire will be a worthy successor even if they don't handle as well (I've had a Herald 13/60 and a Spitfire 1500 in the past)  |

The other mystery car (striped gasser station wagon) is '57 Ford Ranch wagon. Kandee Twister, it's owned by one of the writers for Classic and Sportscar. |

Like MiataMark I accumulated 100k in my Alfa, a 156 V6, in 2017, in the next village on the way in to work. It's done less than 600 miles since. I bought it in 2011 with 82k on. There's something stupidly heroic about getting an Alfa past 100K even though it shouldn't be any more of an effort to a Ford, BMW etc. I'm waiting for the Discovery to hit 150K now. |

Lewis is a legend in my eyes, greatest British racing driver ever. His determination to be first, and way he spoke about the difference between 1st and 2nd on the weekend was quite revealing. I wasn't going to contribute to this thread again, but greatest British driver ever? what about Jim Clark, Stirling Moss, Jackie Stewart (I don't actually like Jackie Stewart as a person but he's a great driver and did a lot to promote safety in F1), Mike Hailwood and John Surtees (as mentioned by luckyseven world champion on 2 and 4 wheels). Not to mention Graham Hill probably not the greatest British driver but he did get the triple CROWN (F1, Le Mans & Indy 500) not to mention numerous saloon car races and the gas turbine BRM. Oh these drivers had a personality (which is why Mansell is disqualified from my list he didn't :-), then there's James Hunt scores on personality probably not on driving ability compared to others. I do admire Hamilton for his support of Billy Monger and the child cancer victim mentioned earlier. |
