I have been enjoying the Vin Wiki car stories recently (especially the Cannonball run stories). Bit of a change of pace as they tend to be around 10 minute monologues but the stories are interesting and you can pop in for a quick bite then move on. www.youtube.com/channel/UCefl-5pmhZmljwZTE2KrcdADave.

In March this year my Mrs. and I went on a road trip in the USofA. On the 5th day we drove up and over the Appalachian mountains into Gatlinburg Tennessee. We arrived late in the evening so had a lie in the next morning and missed breakfast in the hotel so walked into town to grab some food when we noticed the Police blocking off the strip. Completely randomly we ended up in the middle of a Santa parade. Santas from every state of the US and lots had their cars; Day 6 by Dave Campbell, on Flickr Day 6 by Dave Campbell, on Flickr Day 6 by Dave Campbell, on Flickr Day 6 by Dave Campbell, on Flickr Dave

I love these - especially with the escort ad - That car was such a huge failure, and very quickly forgotten - wasn't it the mk5? I think it was the Mk5 then they changed the grille for the oval version for the Mk6. Funny the way he opens the sunroof in the middle of the night as they didnt have a lot else to show off in the car. I still cant believe that Fiat got away with that Punto advert. Dave

I purchase a great quality goretex cover with fleece lining from here; Goretex / fleece lined sounds as though it would cover both major issues, i.e. allow moisture out whilst reducing the potential for rubbing & scratching. Obviously if it's well secured it's less likely to catch the wind and move about rubbing the paintwork. I should think it was pricey though? I bought the latest one (usually get 2 winters out of them) and it was £140ish.

All I can add is that my Fastback has been under a cover on the drive (summer and winter) for the last 10 years since it was restored and it shows no sign whatsoever of damage from the cover. I purchase a great quality goretex cover with fleece lining from here; www.airflow-uk.co.uk/home.phpWinter jacket by Dave Campbell, on Flickr Winter jacket by Dave Campbell, on Flickr From my experience a damp garage with no air flow causes more damage than a cover. I keep a damp trap in the car (saucer of salt will work as well) and I bought the plastic clamps market traders use to keep their stalls together to clamp the cover to my bumpers for extra security in the wind and like I said, 10 years and no issues. Working very hard, clocked up over 600 miles in the last week. In fact I'm now entitled to a lease car through work but I would rather drive my B3 and claim the fuel Something very familiar about that pic....... Handled the scrap runs with ease as well; Dave

I feel like this video has taken as long to put together as the car but I finally finished it last night.
Here is the full story of Festers restoration in under 16 minutes;
