They are a good looking car. Do you think there was any hint of irony when they called it a fastback Its like VW decided they would call it a fastback but none of their mates were brave enough to correct them as it was too early in the night and they didnt need a tantrum.

Found these Mk1 Transit parts on a bike ride. Easy project by David Campbell, on Flickr Wing, bumper, mudflap and chassis rail. That should be enough to request a V5?

This is a bit of a thread resurrection from the dead but as I mentioned my Cannonball run location visits at the start of the thread I thought I would add my updated Cannonball run video.
Stay safe,
Dave

Cannonball run is a huge favourite of mine, so much so that I have been to the start line from the movie in a shady part of Georgia and the finish line from the movie at the Portofino Inn, California as well as some spots along the route. I really enjoyed the show a few years ago "We're doomed:The Dad's army story" about Jimmy Perry and David Croft trying to get the first episode of Dad's army made in 1967. Just a pity Jimmy Perry's character drove a 1970 Beetle; And the cast were transported to the set in a 1976 coach; I'm sure there are lots more examples out there. Dave.

Am I obsessed with the Cannonball run movie? Enough to go and visit the filming locations for the start line (in a scary part of Decatur, Georgia) and then last year to visit the Portofino Inn where the finish line was. You can see my pictures if you are interested on my Rewound and found website here; rewoundandfound.com/the-cannonball-run/Dave. That's brilliant Dave Thanks carlb, I olso got to visit Smokey and the bandit and Dukes of Hazzard locations on the same trip. Proper childhood favorites. They are on the website as well if you fancy a look. Dave.

A superb post. Great write-up and amazing pictures. I haven't watched the videos yet, but I will come back to them. This looks like exactly the sort of trip I'd love to do myself one day. Thanks and if you do watch the video and it gets you in the mood for a roadtrip, have a watch of my adventure from 2017 where I covered Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. Dave.

Fascinating, thanks for sharing! Loved the Queen Mary video, an itch I have yet to scratch. Queen Mary was great for a visit and a real treat to spend the night on but I wouldnt spend anymore than one night. Saw everything in the day we were there and $18 for two cokes at the bar and only one restaurant at night with nothing cheaper than $30 on the menu would make it really expensive really quickly.

After a bit of searching I think I have identified the two mystery test cars I spotted on the way out of Death Valley. day 7 pearsonville 10 by Dave Campbell, on Flickr The big car looks like a disguised 2020 Hyundai Sonata; And the smaller car looks to be a 2020 Hyundai I20; What do you think? Interesting photos, thanks for sharing. Me and the Mrs should have been flying to San Fran in May and driving the slightly less adventurous route to LA and over to Vegas, can't see it happening now Ah no way. I hope this didnt rub salt in that wound. I have done that route in the past as well back in 2010. If its any consolation I'm sure the places will still be there so stay in, stay well and you will be able to go once this blows over. Dave
