www.lyddenhill.co.uk/classic-festivalThis looks like a fun day out. Anyone know much about Lydden Hill for spectator facilities? I've always got the impression from TV that there's not much there, and if I'm going to drag Mrs Del there for a day then I need to make sure there's at least somewhere that she can sit down in (reasonable) comfort and get a cup of tea...

Glad you enjoyed it and got the decent Porsche, shame it was a bit wet but in someways it stops you pushing it too much and....well you get the idea lol At one point in the Huracan as we came off the main straight, the instructor said 'Off the brakes, turn in, cross your fingers and hope it sticks...', which I did *not* need to hear!

The speedo on the Mk3 Granada is such that 70mph is very slightly to the left of top centre. I know why, because 75mph is 120kph (which is what is at top centre) but it didn't stop it being annoying!

So I did the Supercar Blast yesterday, which after the lovely hot weather of the last couple of weeks, was the day it decide to lash it down all day across the Midlands... I was still mentally deciding between the Porsche and the Gallardo when I got there, but got even more indecisive when I got to the briefing. Because in addition to the five cars I listed at the beginning, there was a whole slew of others to choose from! The line-up was: Ferrari California Aston Martin V8 Vantage Porsche 911 GT3 or Carrera 4S Lamborghini Gallardo Audi R8 V10 Nissan GT-R BMW i8 Bentley Flying Spur And then on top of that, you could pay extra for three laps in: Ferrari 458 Spider Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 Spyder (six weeks old!) McLaren 570S (three months old!) So I umm-ed and aah-ed, because if I went with the Porsche (which had been my gut choice really), it was pot luck which one I got, whichever one was available when I got to the front of the queue would be my drive. I was tempted by the i8 and also the GT-R but in the end I went for the Porsche, and stumped up sixty quid for the Huracan. After all, if a Gallardo was going to be brilliant, a hyper-Gallardo-mega-plus would awesome, right? STOP! PORKER TIME! Front of the queue...what's in first? GT3!!! And it's red! It's quite a long way down into the bucket seat of a GT3, but very snug and comfortable when you're in there. Manual seat adjustment, manual gearbox (the only one there apart from the GT-Rs), manual handbrake, no traction control, no ABS. Which to be honest, is fine with me, because before I'd bought the Granada, I'd never driven a car with ABS, and still haven't driven one with traction control. To cut a long story short, I absolutely loved everything about it! OK, it was lashing rain, and the track was damp, but the instructor was happy for me to push on and managed to touch 80 at the end of the main straight. LIKE A HURACAN!!! Bright metallic green, it looks amazing. Then you get in, and it's like being in a TIE-fighter. A world of difference away from the Porsche, push-button start (so bloody cool!), paddle shift and what seems a very small steering wheel. The instructor is adamant that hands at ten-to-two, and off the paddles will be fine for the whole lap, no need to feed the wheel. And...I didn't like it anywhere near as much. It sounded amazing, I must admit, and it was faster by a good few mph, but I couldn't get the hang of paddles and crossing my arms and no engine braking. It was great fun, well organised, and I know it's a very artificial experience, but I'd do it again!

Some great stuff in that link! I think the first 'jam sandwiches' I can remember were probably the Mk2 Grannies.

Got a picture of this on my phone too when I got my MOT at the garage next to it. Chap there was saying it failed the MOT horrendously back in 2009 or so on rust and then it went away for a few weeks, reappeared there and has sat ever since - untouched. Weird. Just had a look at the MoT history, and it was tested in October last year. It failed, but all very easy to fix, and no mention of rust at all. The plot thickens. Went back today to pick up my camper from the garage over the road, and asked the mechanic there about it. He said it reappeared about four months ago, but loads of notes had been left on it asking if it was for sale. It seems the answer is 'no', because there was no note on it yesterday or today, so it suggests whoever owns it is removing them.

Thanks for the replies, does anyone know what these engines sell for from either Force or Harris? . I can tell you that my stepdad's one, including the supercharger etc, built and fitted was £13,000...

This is my stepdad's Mini with the same BMW K1100 16v head, this has a 1310cc A-series (or maybe A+, can't remember) block. That's a Rotrex supercharger behind

A rather rare Rickman Rancher campervan. Obviously not moved for a long time, judging by the flat tyre and general condition. The interior is pretty knackered as well, but could probably be restored. Bodyshell is all GRP, so no rust there, but I wouldn't like to say the same for the chassis. Mechanicals are all Mk2 Escort, I think?

This upper grille/intake on the Toyota CROWN, but especially the sidelight/indicator combo.

My Panda had Supaguard from new. The offside doors have gained a few scuffs, from the neighbour's kids and their football, I think. The scuff remover that Supaguard supply haven't removed them, and I was considering T-Cut. A) Is it a good idea or should I try something else? B) Can I use it on Supaguard treated panels? Have an immaculately polished Morgan as a thank-you:

Hmph. I was hoping I'd get to post the Skoda Favorit MTX Cabrio first but I got beaten to it. I'm going to post another picture anyway because I think they look cool - when the roof is down. It was a professional job?!

High waistlines and small glasshouses. It must make it very claustrophobic for rear passengers. Look at the current Fiesta as an example (and this is by no means the worst offender):

The front indicators on my VW Bora. They're located right next to the grill and not on the outside of the headlamp unit. It does my nut in! My modern Panda has that, but I don't mind it. What I do mind is the non-adjustable windscreen washer nozzles, which mean when you squirt and the wipers start, there's no water in the bottom corners of the screen, so it never gets washed.

Thanks all. Happened to drive past a pneumatics place earlier on, so popped in to see if they could have a look. We tried a pump at fairly low pressure but it didn't budge, so we're going to pull it all apart over the weekend.

So, I bought a campervan yesterday, based on a C15 diesel. It was pretty cheap, and is a little rough around the edges but does seem to be generally good. The seller did tell us that the pneumatic system for the lifting roof didn't work, but I had assumed that the roof was manual anyway and so thought this might be an aftermarket system that had been added just to make lifting easier. It turns out that this roof is too heavy for my wife and I to lift, so will need to get this system repaired. There's a knob to pull to switch the compressor on, there's a gauge near the back door, and a switch to lift or lower the roof. Apparently, it's the pump that's given up the ghost. Would this be something that a general motorhome dealer could do (we have one not too far away), would I need a specialist for this particular brand (Romahome) or would a general pneumatics/hydraulics firm be able to fix it?

Saw this on Gumtree last night. Rang the vendor, got my Mum and stepdad to check it over for me today and agreed to buy it. On the train on Saturday to pick it up!
