my old track rod ends wouldnt shift. dropped them off with the guys next door for the application of much hottnes
gave the rods a bit of paint and are now on the car. gonna get the tracking set up properly after mot
Rob kindly let me use his colourtune gizmo to try set the mixture a bit better. he called round for a play today, this things ace simple, dunno how it works, but it ace!
couple of pics of Robs capri again... still not posted! cmon matey say hello to the other children!, some of them will play nice probably
hes having a bit of wheel traum at the mo. he likes pepperpots........ but he also likes 7 spokes, but which is best? theres only one way to find out!
took the opportunity to get a few pics of the car out side, almost compete, just missing the bonnet, but they are over rated anyway
3 of the kids together
got a bit few more fiddly bits done. hung the exhaust a bit better- no pics tho grill, horns n stuff. sorted the brake lights , just gotta make my indicators glow orange.
id read somewhere that a green light will show up orange through a red lense. anyone know if this is true? or am I better off getting hold of orange bulbs and see if that works. else ill have to go back to the original bubble lights( prob just for the mot though)
and one last pic with the spazda
really close to being ready for an mot now. might try get it in this week. just washers to sort and the indicators- I think
Those lights are the same as on my Rascal and the Mk1 MR2 (same as M2k MR2, Celica, Hilux and lots of other cars from the era)
It's the smaller units I am after to give the lowest possible profile. The ones on Rob's MX5 are just over an inch lower, which makes quite a bit of difference.
I really apprecitate the help, but I'm going to continue looking for some 4" tall.
Saw some of the photos from yesterdays meet in N. Wales, looked good and I'm hoping to make it to one of the future ones for a blast in the countryside. Might try and tie it in with a visit to KFW too.
that sounds like a cunning plan matey, i only live about 10 miles from kev, have yet to meet the legend in person though. but was driving through abergele in the works van a few months back, only a small place and coming the other way was this chuffin hooooj hillbilly pickup, first thought was feck, that ace, followed a split second later by, "i bet thats kfw" ;D sure enough, there he was
got a bit more done today , I now have brakes that work ;D bled them properly , front and back , nice solid pedal again. started putting the wings , lights and some other bits back
also cameraman rob called in after work. hes getting better. turned the car round tonight so can work on the front without having to move the spazda.
still think cherry bombs a bit on the loud side. ;D
need to sort the trackrods next me thinks. have new inner and outer ends. washers/wipers, few bulbs, horns then mot see how it goes
tut, bloody polish, comin over here, fixing out headunits. was just looking at the light conversion ya fancy, do the lights have to be that exact size? just went downstairs to measure the lights on my celica, got a couple of pics. they were about 18.5mm x12.5mm
the white lid on top is a mx5 pop up lid
sounds like ya had an ace day matey, got a few pics from the mx5 meet yesterday, think someone said 46 cars turned up. roasting weather, great roads. was good fun.
well..... got another milestone out the way today. the aim was to get the clutch cylinder back in, bleed the brakes properly and try see if it'll move under its own steam. lot of trauma with the clutch just didnt seem to wana work. then started having evil thoughts that id goosed it up when i put the clutch in or put the bearing in wrong or something else that would mean taking it all out n starting again. got there in the end though. car now moves ;D video evidence courtesy of Rob who true to his own word is a techno spas. got this clip and 3 others that are 1 second long! i even showed him which button to press ffs ;D cmon Rob, ask an adult to show ya how to reply to a thread
much celcebratory coffees were had. gonna start putting the lights, wings etc back on. still gotta bleed the brakes and all new trackrods n stuff to do, then mot
blimey, that would be a trek n a half, wouldve been ace tho! one day...... i love the interior, was too much all in tan. spot on now though. got me tax through for my spazda today, bit of a blast after work for first time in 6 months or so. ace little cars. cant believe what youve done for a grand!
hmmm, just looked through the smiley faces and cant find one with an erection. that would be the smiley face that best describes the tingly feeling i get looking at this epic work
bit of progress made. cleaned up the sump. small pinhole in it. filled it with chemical metal, seems to have done the trick, but will keep a beay eye on it the motors been runnin but not quite right. was missing on one of the cylinders, had a good spark there, just not firing right. big thanks to rob again , gave me a hand with the carbs, trying to set them up and get them running right. in the end got a new set of plugs. tried them today and was slightly better. took the carb that was feening the dodgy cylinder apart and nuked it with cleaner and a blast from the compressor. running much better now, another visit from rob , who was out cruising in his capri, (for boys probably!) ;D ( this abuse will continue untill you stop lurkin and post something up matey ;D) anyhow, a bit of tweakin later and its alive and running nicely, and to prove it, heres a clip!
also got round to sorting out a throttle cable. originally was on linkages, but is completely different as the carbs are now on the opposite side got a universal cable kit thing of ebay for about a tenner. seems to do the job and i now have a loudness pedal again
have decided i may now be too old for cherrybombs though, its a bit to loud now
as a bonus, packed up, came upstairs to find i ve "won" some new ht leads on teeebay ;D happy days
