Whilest waiting on some parts to swap the steering rack i started to investigate the water and oil leaks it had and the mayonaise which occured on the oilfillercap every now and then. After a couple of hours of working, it turned out to this: I love this detail of the intake, shame i have to cover it up with a cover, maybe i'll make one with glass in to be able to see them. ALMOST CanAm style y0! The heads where skimmed (they where round instead of hollow? never seen that happen before ). In the same time i got the starter and alternator refurbished so they are all as new now. Next weekend i'm going to bolt it back together and then gungum the exhaust one more time and try to get an MoT on it.

Overhere the rule is allready in action, but it's not working as you guys think, and being a european rule, it will probably work the same in the UK. Overhere cars build before 1 januari 1960 are MoT exempt AFTER their first MoT after januari this year. So it's not like you can pull a rotter from the shed and drive it, it has to be in decent condition first, to pass it's last MoT. What happens to it after that, remains a mystery

I bought my SD1 in Grimsby last year, which is close to the ferry from Hull to Rotterdam. Except i had to deliver some parts in London on the way in, and deliver another car on the way back. So instead of taking the ferry to Hull (which would make sense) i did Tilburg - Calais - London - Grimsby - London - Dover - Tilburg in the end, which was about 1000miles. Did it in 2 days though

hmm, 5x130 can be wobble bolted on to 5x127, right? Centrebore of my SD1 is 57mm, stock size is 15x6,5 ET40 (if google is correct), so that makes about 5cm more dish, i'm wondering if i can get away with that. Shame i'm not over to Bristol in the SD1 soon, otherwise i'd really want to try them on to see how bad they fit Because to me, my SD1 looks a bit underwheeled, and these are very nice!

i'm with BiAS on this. I LOVED seeing it at RR07, walked around it for half an hour when it was sitting in the pits at the end of the day.

The problems with the brakes where worse then i thought, after replacing the rear lines, i wanted to do the fronts as well, just in case. Off course i stripped the thread of the 4th and last brake line. So i ordered some braided lines, those refitted and the brakes bled, they feel LOADS better then before, so that's great!
Last and final problem was a little drip from the steering rack everynow and then. When i took off the boot to see how big the problem was, i was greeted by a nice gush of PAS fluid, the leaking rack had filled the boot.
After loads of swearing and undoing parts, i got it out and last sunday i picked up a nice 2nd hand rack from a nice guy from the SD1 Club in Central London, who i passed on the way back from a holiday in Ireland.
So now i have some small parts in order, and then i can refit it and go for another APK!

only lowered it on some unknown springs and fitted a front ARB. And a set of Yokohama A048R tires. I had LOADS of fun, learned a lot about trackdriving, and surprised quite a few (assumable) quicker cars with the stock engine with only 75hp. And they are very well catered in the aftermarket area, so if you want to upgrade in the later life, all is possible, decent suspension, turbo engine etc. etc. etc.

is that true? It thought it was 30+ years old then you get a 2 years MOT and cars build before 1960 don't have to go through the MOT at all. I didn't know the no-MOT rule was a rolling date as well!

go to Gamma and buy their 60 euro socket set, it's in a green case. it's a bit rough, but it will withstand a lot of abuse! I only broke my ratchet because i used it as a hammer That set has anything you need for your KP

'Delica' rhymes with 'Celica' does it not? Of course that doesn't really help as people seem to have great trouble getting that one 'right' too. I actually spent ages the other day trying to decide what was correct after I saw one when I was wandering about. I don't know how correct it actually is, but I say de-leeka/ se-leeka. Here's another one for the German chaps, how does one say 'Taunus' ? I always say 'tour-nus' but it could just as easily be 'tow-nus' (tow as in cow) funny, in the Netherlands we say Sáylica and Dáylica And indeed Taunus is pronounced as tow-nus , also in Germany.

that is only partly true, i recently changed to a more modern camera which copes better with low light levels then my previous, 10 year old cam! But yeah, the white wall does affect the lighting a bit!
