Indeed, there was a guy between me and this sale ad despite it appearing as though I got it from this ad which is how it ended up in Scotland, the trip itself is possible, if you can somehow manage 8.5hours in one hit, however, we're humans, car's need fuel and there's always roadworks/traffic so rounded up to 10 hours haha, arrived yesterday after being picked up on Sunday. I personally didn't fancy the road trip and couldn't because of work commitments anyway, given how much of the car currently doesn't work it was a good call to not fly and drive back. Would have made for an excellent road kill style first post in my ownership buuuuuuut parts for this thing aren't as common as parts are for the stuff they usually play with. Now we should probably stop digging up old for sale ads haha - myself included

The real issue to me is globalisation. If we really want to save the planet then stop flying Avacado's or Strawberries from South Africa to the UK so we can eat them. If his facts are correct and one flight to LA return is as much CO2 as running a classic for 10,000 miles then buying avacado's must have a similar footprint??? Stop that first, it would have a far higher impact. This is why I work for the food company I do, organic, absolutely no air miles on anything and we support the small guys.

Could be that, could be that very few of the electrics do anything. (No wipers, indicators, brake lights etc etc) Possibly something about how skodas are never at the top of the hill, always at the bottom. Plod on we must

Morning all, I was unsure of whether to start a build thread for this, given... I didn't build it stonio did and there's a thread already out there, I do however now have it in my possession and following a year of sitting in storage with the PO, I'm going to do my best to make this car... my daily. Crazy I know but I think I need some comic relief from 2020 so if you see me out and about, do wave Step one, work out why it wont start haha.

All good replies folks, thanks. I do like RR for the reason it's so eclectic, and have tended toward shows that are not tied to a specific culture or brand. My brother's been to JDM shows and attended shows as part of BMW clubs in the past, but I've not gone in for that myself as there's only so many of the same car you can look at as you say. I've found one-make/model forums etc. to be generally accepting and informative, maybe I've been lucky there! It probably helps that none of them could be considered on-trend - BriSkoda and the Supra MK3 owners were great when I was on there a lot. The Jackeria touched on the perception of others outside the scene about your choice, is that something others have experienced? I should add, my experiences of those were within the Triumph Club (won't sell x part to me but happy to sell to someone else, despite me being first to the post and offering them what they were asking) I never experienced that with the much larger VW scene/Subaru/MX5 groups, for the most part they were extremely accommodating much like here is, then again I wasn't exactly pushing the envelope. On the whole, my experiences were great, they were just the two times over the last 10 years that I can remember that were "anti-scene" if you like and even then the "not our car" thing is so small it's water under the bridge, annoying at the time, hasn't really made owning it harder and if anything, has opened the door to me doing what I want to the car because that will make it "mine". Not that the door wasn't open from the day we bought it.

I have owned more than my fair share of watercooled vw’s. It was always because of a passion for the car rather than the people, I didn’t then and still don’t now know any car people so have never really gotten into that side of things and could care less for most of the insta fame guys anyway. Never struggling with parts is an absolute joy. Took me two years to get a proper rear quarter for my datsun that didn’t cost me the earth, imagine what else I could have done in that time. If you like/want to drive the car often, I’d really suggest a popular car over a rare one regardless of uniqueness. Nothing worse than not being able to find what you need for months on end because you don’t want to be ripped off or it’s all nla, the fb groups make this a little easier but we have found you still have the same old cliques, the guys who’ve owned 40 of the cars, bought 8 of them for a fiver 20 years ago so yours is instantly worth nothing and they won’t sell you x part because they don’t know you and you’ve only been in the club for 5 mins compared to them lifers or because your car isn’t up to their standards, to the point where we’ve owned one of our rarer cars for nearly 3 years but the club members still refer to it as “oh that’s xxxx’s car” as if we don’t exist. Personally I hate people like that and I’ve come across loads of them - probably just a minor gripe tbh but it’s something you get “scene” or not. If you like/want a car that happens to be popular, good, there’s a reason they’re popular haha! Go for it!
I’ve also owned a Subaru and can tell you exactly how many times I have been asked if I vape in person... None. Did my 5 speed break? No. Ringlands? Nope. Mudflaps and tyre lettering? Also no. Maybe I just had a good one, maybe stereotypes are for laughing at because I sure as hell am not a lesbian (despite long hair and liking the female variety) can’t say I relate to them though.

I know they're sold out already for Sunday, however I noticed they've also announced another event on the Saturday before, tickets go live today at 5pm. The announcement is on their facebook but not their website yet.

I want to say CUV should be banned as wastes of materials but that would then span across to eco warriors saying lambos/exotica should be banned because no-one needs a v10/12. So I'll keep my mouth shut haha

Car wise, I have things to do but I'm not working on them, my old briggs and stratton has become an exploded diagram, I've got a few parts to measure up and replace

I'll be following keenly that's for sure. Love an XT, there's just so much tech packed into them, I'm sure I read somewhere they have adaptive steering that lessens the amount of turns lock to lock depending on speed and steering input, not to mention the lift suspension. I have been searching the internet and forums high and low for these over the past few months and think I have finally exhausted the possibilities of finding more - the numbers on how many left.com appear to be close to accurate, I don't think there are any left in the UK that have the digi dash, at least I haven't come across one with it. I really wish I was an infographic designer so I could find a way to display the information of those left in a really cool way.

This has never happened to me, which makes me think I don't own cool enough cars haha. I have however, had someone give me the chance to buy their car whilst I was out, and I hadn't even asked. Was a honda s600 coupe, he gave me his email add and phone number for future reference if I ever change my bank balance status from dire up a scale to cloudy with a chance of rain.

A long while ago I had a play on Gran turismo with an idea I had when I first got this car, I think it works quite well, I'll probably forego the numbers stickers and other kanjo stuff but the silver stripe decal will stay, so it's more inline with the gen 1. the way the stripe cures at the rear needs some work but I'm no sticker re-shaping pro on console, I'd like it to be thinner much like the 1G and follow the rear window line better at the rear. The font used is also EG civic not EJ, I couldn't find one on the GT database without sitting there for ever searching but I'd prefer it to be EJ font. The other question is colour of the stripe, white, black, gunmetal or as close a silver to what the wheels are.

More progress on the EJ this weekend following spring change on the daily, 262mm brakes/hubs up front, powdercoated, new bearings, new hardrace lower ball joints, new honda backing plates, new HEL braided lines all round, EBC grooved and drilled discs, I'll probably get new calipers if I can't be bothered to clean up these ones - I want them clean given the rest of the stuff under the car now is new/clean. For the first time in 2-3 years I finally pass the shoe test. Ignore those coilovers in the pic the car has BC's. The only thing staring at me to be done now is the front ARB and thinking about brake cooling, may also do a bit of reading into roll centre adjusters and rear toe arms.
