got an X reg 2.0 diesel astra with the gm 8v 80 ish bhp engine, picked it up cheap as it had been sat a few years.
runs lovely, However there seems to be no boost, and the eml is on, i have checked the vacuum lines and wastegate and all seems fine there.
any ideas of what software will read it? its pre obd2, though a dl16 connector is present. or any pointers to a possible fault?

not likely the PS fluid has made it as far as the calipers, unless its been bled, I'd be inclined to empty the reservoir then try a fresh fill and bleed.
other thought is where did that 100ml of brake fluid go to need topping up?

funny reading all the powrr vs torque adage, when an engine builder I know uses 4-2-1 om all his engines and they make more power than most, with a nice fat torque band

lots wrong with a pinto! thankfully the Lexus/toyota V8 shouldn't be hard to find if the rest of the car is decent enough to warrant changing the engine.

nissan's cabstar is a mini truck, cab tilts forwards like bigger trucks, have one at work, only a 3.5tonner too.
Mitsubishi have the canter in narrow and wide cab.

that looks quite smart on 106 rallye steels, would highly recommend binning that poly lower mount for a standard one, they're horrible and have a tendency to fall to bits.

sensors alone wont get the power out, it will need mapping.

google suggests its 10.3 for the B230a, but yeah not enough for that much cam.
if its on a standard single throttle intake that will hold it back for sure, as well as a standard exhaust manifold will not be helping, depends how far you want to take it really though.
i'd assume you have some valvetrain upgrades in there as that would be a pretty lairy cam compared to the original one.
your friend is on the right train of thought, you definitely need more compression, as for the wideband that's a good idea but It still needs a pro to map it as it'll be ignition timing that can make or break it for making power, a bit rich here or there wont hurt too much but stuff lasts longer running cleaner.

12-1 should be the right ballpark for 298 degree cam, is it on its original intake?

BMW 3.0D, or an OM6** of some kind, plenty of variants, dropping in a standard one would more than suffice if you choose a modern one.
