A man buys a car. (1977model) Receives the paperwork but never registers it in his name. Because he exports it to Ireland. Didnt register it there either as "sure I'll do it when the car is finished"! Some time later he dies. All paperwork etc gone.
How do I get the VLC? CAN I get the VLC (V5?) Alan,Ireland South.

By the sounds of it doesn’t officially exist on either system, having never been registered?
In the UK, I suspect an age related plate could be obtained if a definitive date of manufacture can be ascertained from the manufacturer?

Sounds more like it's registered, just not to the chap who bought it and died. You can apply for a new log book in your name. I've done it before but can't remember off the top of my head what form I had to fill in. It was simply a case of get form post office, fill it in, send it to the dvla. They then send a letter to the registered keeper basically asking their permission to send out a new log book. If they don't get a reply or they get the go ahead from the registered keeper, they post you out a log book in your name.

Make sure you have a receipt, even if it's free. Remember v5 isn't proof of ownership.

If they asked in the PO they would be able to get the form Thats great, thanks.

If it’s still on the uk system just send off a v62 and you should get a v5 in a couple weeks. Do it to a uk address and don’t mention it’s in ireland though. Then once you got it just ‘export’ it.
