So last week I made a major booboo, and dropped a bolt while changing the rocker cover gasket. Had no idea where it had gone, so turned the engine over by hand before anything else...and the cam belt snapped. It had gone down the side of the engine rather than in it, and got stuck between the crank pulley and belt. Belt was rotten though as I didn't even feel it snap. So recovered it to my lovely mechanic tonight hoping the lid wasn't going to have to come off, took a chance and threw a full belt kit and pump at it... and no damage done thankfully ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) Water pump was goosed anyway, changed the cam sensor while we were at it, while the coolant was out I changed the reservoir for a New one and refilled with fresh coolant. Runs absolutely tip top now so on to some welding and MOT soon hopefully.

As above, had my belt done today and whoever did it last pretty much ruined it. Anyone got one kicking about?

I'd imagine it is, I know he tucked it away after dealing with a million messers.

What do you do if you find it needs welding while you're doing the treatment? I only ask as I want my underside doing at some point on my Vectra, but needs inner sill work as well.

Great pics Dan thanks for sharing ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) The wheels off and mirrors crowd don't do it for me though, not what having a nice car is about.

When I was a kid (early 00s) it was the General Lee. Had literally every model I could find, drew it, watched the Dukes every chance I could. My dad seriously looked at trading in his Sierra Cosworth in for one but our garage wouldn't accommodate it. Its still a dream now, ultimate goal is the school run in it. Kids through the windows, the works:D

That was quick, now have a set of 308mm brakes and discs winging their way to me ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) stuck a new maf on today, its got an intermittent eml and historic codes said Maf and cam sensor, these engines eat sensors for some reason, and it's a pita to change with the engine mount, aix belt and cam belt cover needing to come off, so that can wait for now.

Nice find from a friend of mine, cheap as chips Irmscher grill, picking bits like this up when I see them, even though I know there's more pressing issues. Next purchase will be 308mm carriers, pads and discs, they all need changing so will upgrade at the same time. Will see about getting some welding done soon, hopefully this week.

We had this on a mates Vectra the other night, annoyingly they looked fine and just turned to cheese. Snapped flush, used 4 drill bits, and slotted the cat to use a nut and bolt in the end.

Got the car back today, managed to have a drive of it as well, goes really well, better than any of the 2.0 I've had before, so need to see what's been done, maybe a set of cams in there. Brakes are working now, but still want new pads and discs. Exhaust has been changed for a standard centre with a DD backbox that woukd have been standard fitment, but thanks to a sports cat I didn't know it had there's still a nice burble there. Gay sticker removed off boot, and a good wash since it got covered in oily handprints. Oh and sat on 4 new tyres. Oh and gay blue interior LEDs sacked off for proper filament bulbs. So I can see now ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) Astra got new wheels as well, swapped the carbon 17s for them to resell but tried them on first, too hot to swap back.

I use a hand car wash if I haven't got time to get all my stuff out, but normally wash my 2 at least every week with a good go over and wax every month. I HATE driving a dirty car 😂

Keep an eye out for full second hand system, I got my 3' stainless turbo back for 100 on ebay, best thing I did to it apart from the annoying coo ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) good to see its being used, mines alive again after changing the fuel filter 🙄 which I'm glad about.
