I seem to remember there being an aftermarket grille for MK2 golfs which were effectively a grille across he front and a motor which moved the louvres when the lights were put on, I' m sure someone will know the one I mean. these were the "Orciari"-Grilles : rare as hens teeth today, second hand ones sell for a couple of hundred Euros .... there are some pics I can not hotlink, so just use google to see the clever design they made for opening the grille.... Have a look at this thread (includes video ): retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=print&thread=72503

or you could buy all 8 of these: That would be expensive. As well as buying the cars, you'd need to hire a load of ex-special forces henchmen, with European or South African accents I'd have one of these for the garden (need to get a bigger garden to suit): These are pretty cool: And if you put a roof rack on this.... ...imagine how many battered suitcases, jerry cans and old bikes you could get on it

Done a bit of reading on mobile speed cameras after reading this thread; conclusion: due to their being mounted in vans (which move) or being used handheld, they are likely to produce inaccurate readings. Contest a ticket if you think you weren't speeding, the machines are fallible.
On a lighter note, from Wikipedia:
Lottery
Kevin Richardson proposed the idea of rewarding drivers travelling at or below the posted limit with a cash lottery, funded by the fines on speeding drivers. This was demonstrated in Stockholm, Sweden, in November 2010.

Never realised that was a Volvo. From memory, without looking, I would have guessed at it being a Peugeot 305

Photoshop isn't evil; I wonder how many times a really gash wheel choice has been avoided by testing it out on photoshop first?

This leaves me in a pickle if its a nail, as getting home again becomes a major hassle and expense so I tend to buy them anyway. Wanna buy a car? It's mint. ;D It's still possible to buy a cheap car that isn't a heap. My current car cost me £471 with a years ticket, few months tax, FSH, and low (<60k) mileage. No rust, four good tyres, and they even put a bit of petrol in it.

I'm not sure if this is a daft question or not (I suspect it is!).
Can I just wire in a resistor to make a light dimmer? Obviously it would work, but is there any reason why I shouldn't do it?
And if I do, how do I work out what resistor to use? If, say, I wanted a 21w bulb to be as bright as a 5w bulb? (and no, I can't just use a 5w bulb!)

Definitely. Now I've imagined gold bumpers, it's starting to look a bit bland with the chrome.

I take it the name has no relevance to the company Eagle that made the Talon? I opened the thread expecting to see an Eagle SS

My dad had a Princess too. Maybe this is the one true constant that ties all Retro Rides users together...? My dad had one too! Sandglow yellow, with a brown vinyl roof and brown velour interior Always smelt a bit of sick though; hydrolastic suspension & children prone to travel sickness are not a good combination

I didnt see that one, but they just come across as wannabes. That is how they came across in the program, but in the link the driftworks bloke makes it sound like they can actually drive.

The only thing is you couldnt leave it anywhere, 2 beefcakes thin blokes with hangovers could probably pick it up and chuck it into the back of a van. 199kg according to the specifications. Not really pushing them in that video, are they? It says they'll do 46mph. 46 mph, with your knees around your ears and your shoulders for a roll bar. Fun ;D
