Hi, a good place to start would be to download and send in form v888 from the dvlc website, it's worked for me in the past regarding damage to my car and the driver leaving the scene. Luckily a witness got the reg number and i was able to hunt them down and legally gut them like a fish via my insurance company. Think this is the link www.direct.gov.uk/en/Diol1/DoItOnline/DG_10016794

Due to work commitments either a 2003 Zafira or my usual 2005 Focus but have a '73 Bond Bug sitting waiting and an '87 mini currently undergoing restoration. These are the newest cars i've had as dailies, usually pre '98 Polo's for the last 10 years though.

Absolutely love this, looks great and proves that it doesn't take loads of money to have a cool bike. Ride safe and enjoy.

As a welder i've had a few scary moments, normally when others have put paper etc in my welding bay bin without me knowing. To make things safer at home though i look out for filing cabinets, cheap, easy to get hold of and hold loads of tools and aerosols, even the hand paper is pulled out of the top of a drawer to keep it safe. The bin is a cardboard box in a bottom drawer. Works for me. Glad you're safe and hope the interior is fit to live again..........

From what i've read, valve seats have a "lead memory" and will be fine for quite a while or until this is worn through, the length of time that this takes is obviously dependant on the amount of miles covered and how the car is driven. I've used all my older cars and bikes without addatives and hav'nt been gentle with them and have not noticed any detrimental effects. keep an eye on the valve clearances though, if they start closing up either start using addatives or get the hardened valve seats fitted ( if the TR doesn't already have them" The A series isn't too dear but can be fitted from a later car as a straight swap.

Don't know about the air being absorbed by the fluid but this is a method used as a last resort back when i was a mechanic, I've never had a problem afterwards but it you have any concerns, don't do it. Good luck curing it though.

If everything checks out ok visually, the fluid is clear and air free when pumped through, pump up the pedal 'til it's firm and jam it down with a prop onto the front of the seat ( spread the load or the seat cover could be stretched) over night. This may show up any leaks/weeps but normally gives a regular pedal in the morning. If that doesn't work, clamp of each flexy hose/ wheel in turn and and if you can narrow it down.

I've suffered the SIP welder blues and have found that the most common problem with them is that the plastic mounting for the wire feed rollers gradually flexes which leaves the rollers at angles to each other to the point that the lower edges of the rollers touch before the wire is clamped, this results in poor and interupted wire feed. I cured this on mine by using the roller retainer screws to hold two right angled plates with a bolt between them to pull the top of the rollers together. To see if this is the problem on yours, pinch the top of the rollers together and pull the trigger, if you let go the wire feed will stop or become erratic. Hope this helps, it saved me throwing away an otherwise good welder. Good luck with the car, as a welder by trade the work you have done so far deserves the utmost respect, most of us despite being competent welders would have resigned this motor to the scrap heap. I look forward to seeing it finished, time to get back to my Mini now, you've fired me up to get it done.

I was a mechanic in a Seat dealer when these came out new, de-waxed a fair few of these and PDI'd them but they always had their problems. The engines were great ( apart from the small Fiat engine models, i think they were the 900cc Designers). But all models were always coming back under warranty because they had a habit of snapping the inlet pipe on the back box due to a bad design and the indicator switches constantly failed ( steering wheel off and a few self tappers and they sat in cutouts), if i remember rightly we bought them in bulk from a local plumbers as they fitted some sort of power-shower. The front and rear tracking needed doing on every one as they were set poorly from the factory. Taking all this into account, once these problems were sorted they were pretty quick and handled really well, i nearly bought one new but the figures didnn't work for a 19 year old mechanic. Looks like you got a good one there, enjoy it.

Most petrol stations, Halfords, motor factors or even garden centres as it's used for chainsaws, mowers etc. As for the headlamp bulb, my Honda Dominator had an odd bulb in it that i could only get from a Bike shop, take it out and there should be details printed on the side, most motor factors would help.

Ordinary unleaded is fine but make sure that the 2 stroke oil is topped up and coming through from the pump, the 2 stroke oil is the important bit as it lubricates the internal moving parts, engine life is in the region of " not long" if 2 stroke is not present.
