hi there I have just been given a honda melody to do up. We have the engine running nicely and I have resprayed it, but there are a few things I still need and need to know can anyone help ? I need to know: what size the fuel tank is, and what grade of oil it uses. Can anyone tell me where to get a new seat cover, headlight bulb and battery from. thanks! i cant find how to upload pictures so help with that would be nice aswell.

this will no doubt be moved into readers other modifications which is the section for two wheeled stuff, but here goes.. 10.40 oil for the crankcase (if its same as express with enclosed drive to rear wheel) any decent brand low ash 2-stroke oil for the oil tank(bike will mix its own petrol oil but make sure the pump is bled) an the fuel tank will be about 2 litres

sorry guys one more question does the engine run on normal unleaded or do i have to but 4 star from some where ?

Ordinary unleaded is fine but make sure that the 2 stroke oil is topped up and coming through from the pump, the 2 stroke oil is the important bit as it lubricates the internal moving parts, engine life is in the region of " not long" if 2 stroke is not present.

thankyou ! where do i buy two stroke oil from ?

Most petrol stations, Halfords, motor factors or even garden centres as it's used for chainsaws, mowers etc. As for the headlamp bulb, my Honda Dominator had an odd bulb in it that i could only get from a Bike shop, take it out and there should be details printed on the side, most motor factors would help.

If you have a Honda dealer near by , they should be able to sort you out with a bulb. Or any bike shop come to that. All 2 strokes run unleaded and just about any 2 stroke oil you can buy now will be at least as good as the stuff you got 20 years ago! As already said just make sure the oil is getting through. I too have heared good things about David Silvers.

if tis like express... check the strainer in the bottom of the oil tank.. infact drain the old oil out completely clean out the gauze in the bottom of tank. on top of oil pump on engine there should be a crosshead screw, with engine started open this screw a touch an it will bleed the oil pump properly
