Thought I might put this on here, as it may interest a few. What I have been up to as of recent times, as usual not meant to of even bought it but was too good to pass up. just been built on a budget and no real plan just good timing and taking my time correcting a lot of wrongs.
Bought it fully stripped(attempted but failed previous 'drift' owners) running rough, went to look at it and knew it was worth saving and knew it could be repaired. Agreed a deal, fixed it in front of previous owners face lol, and drove it home 40 miles fine.
Here's how I bought it .

First things, lack of brakes.. it has had so far, new discs and pads all around, fluid flush, new custom braided hoses, new second hand caliper as one was seized! also replaced the rear brake lines with kunifer (yes the hard to do ones over the tank) . so yeah it now stops.

Then I turned my parts hunting skills into finding a COMPLETE interior for the wagon. easy you think? no it really wasn't. eventually a real nice lad from west London way, was busting up a touring with saffron tan leather.. and agreed a price and I could have all the plastics I needed. The front seats are allegedly ///M3 items as they are the sought after sport bucket type, with a fire extinguisher built underneath.

complete interior put back in, still need a few items but for now its a better place to be.
Mechanical time, now I replaced the MAF boot with a new one, and that fixed the issue of hunting in 1st, so that was solved. next I changed the breather hoses with genuine BMW, then I replaced the oil filter gasket as it leaked real bad from there again passages were blocked and everything was cleaned out and reassembled. I also replaced but didn't get any photos, the timing chain cover gasket as someone must of taken this of before and not put it back properly. gave it a good service as it blooming needed it , oil filters, sparks, air filter(it didn't have one before) etc.. even put in some bargain £5 brand new Magnecor leads (in red as well) on as well, glad I did as I found someone cut the old black ones previously and neatly taped it up even I didn't clock. also the top end oil cam spray bar was severely blocked so I cleaned it right out and drilled carefully the holes out a tiny bit.
Edit: I also have replaced the rear trailing arm bushes for poly items and front lemforder drop links and ARB bushes. had it all tracked up at Elites in Rainham Essex. drives straight and true

so it runs okay now. pretty nippy for a 1.8 sohc. many rip these engines out, but for now It does the job.
Then lastly and ultimately .. wheels. I was torn on what to look out for , in the end I waited around and these Corvette rims turned up. I could not resist. it just completed the whole look in my head. so I bought them and got them to fit after many spacer trials, and lathing the steels spacer CB down so the wheels are still original staggered corvettes and not butchered up..
old tyres on the right and new on the left ..

to be honest I don't really know why I built it? I got so much on and I did not need it as such but I really missed my last two. and seeing them bashed up and drifted to their deaths I had to have one again to save. hopefully I have done that? for now it is used as a parts chaser tip wagon , been all around in it so far just need to trust it a bit more.
also had a little piece in Street Machine about it which was nice.
Next plans after saving, it does need some better suspension rather than the eBay specials on there. also needs a better steering wheel as well. we will see.
