Exactly how big is your pram? I fitted all of my kid related stuff into the boot of my Merc 190e (and a Mk2 golf, a Mk3 Astra among others) with no problems at all - they do fold down y'know lol Sorry, can't help with the vehicles you've specified, although to put your mind at rest, the Golf+ will be *plenty* big enough (as would your current Golf, but I understand the 3 door thing, massive PITA with a kid to get in and out!). My ex-Mrs had a Mazda 3 (she had 2 kids, one of which was in a pushchair when I met her) and that had plenty of room too.

Although Prescott was a good venue, it will be a great weekend no matter where it's.held. Hopefully the date change will allow me to attend too (as I'm away when it was originally going to be!, and if it's closer to where I am them that's all the better too as I'll be lucky to see 10mpg out of the Blazer I await further news with great anticipation!

I've now sorted this and no longer need a press. Once I got the right technique it only took an hour or so to do the other side.
Cheers!

I've done a combination of the above really... I've made a sleeve to fit over the balljoint and rest on its 'ledge' (steel gas pipe fitting slightly bored out in the lathe), put my handbag down and given it a good smack. I've also been applying pressure with the G-Clamp (enough to start it bending and concern me about it snapping, and it's a STRONG g-clamp!), then hitting balljoint as best I can.
It's got about 2mm to go now, I'm confident I'll get it there tomorrow! Failing that, I'll be welding up a frame to sit around the outside and trying a bottle jack to press it home!! I will not be beaten!!

I do not lol I mean the big, press-fit balljoints that join the axle to the hub/steering knuckle. The old ones are out and the new ones are 80% in, but my G-Clamp just isn't strong enough... I'm probably going to knock something up as I really can't justify the cost of a proper balljoint press! See here for what I need!

I've hit a stumbling block whilst installing the ball joints on my Jeep Cherokee and I'm in need of a ball joint press. My trusty big g-clamp just won't cut it, so a proper press is what I need!
Anyone got one?
Ta!

Mine could be for sale in a couple of weeks (I'm just replacing the front balljoints and UJs for the MOT), it's a '98 on an S plate with decent MT tyres and no saggy back end!
Let me know if the deal falls through on the one you're looking at!
Cheers, Martin

Cheers guzscmick - thanks, but that one would be no use to me, there's no way of fitting an airtight box etc. to it so I couldn't really have it in the car... Cheers anyway tho!

Bumpity bump. Would consider alternative sized tanks now, so long as I can make them fit somehow!

Have you had a look at some American tyre places? You can certainly get 255 fairly low profile tyres - I had some a while back on 10" wide wheels. The likes of Mickey Thompson might be worth looking at...

Cheers for the answer. I'll just stick it up for sale rather than keep it after I've whipped it out then!

I'm going to be breaking up and then scrapping my Alfa 156 2.0 at the end of the month (there's nothing wrong with it, it just seems that they are worthless in terms of resale value at the minute!) and I'll be keeping various bits, most likely including the engine and all it's associated gubbins for a future project. My question is, are there any RWD gearboxes that would be likely to fit it? From an earlier rwd alfa perhaps? Ta muchly, and have a pic of a cool Alfa for your trouble

Right, when the tax runs out at the end of this month, I'm going to be breaking my Alfa 156 2.0 TwinSpark
Does anyone want anything? There's nothing actually wrong with it as such, bar a rattly anti-roll bar (it's still got 6 months MOT!), they just seem to be worthless as complete cars so I'm going to chop it up and weigh it in.
It's black (Nero Fuocco I think) and the bodywork is a bit tatty. Not rusty, just a few scratches and dents. Electrics all work(!), engine runs sweet (117k or so miles), 16" teledials in decent condition (could do with a repaint, but no major kerbing) with well treaded tyres (1 Michelin, 1 Conti and 2 Infinitys). It has Meyle HD droplinks that are less than 6 months old and a lovely grey leather interior.
Prices for the big chunks:
£80 for the complete interior (no tears, rips or holes - in very good condition) £150 for engine, gearbox, ECUs, AFM etc. (everything for a donor car). Cambelt was last done in 2010, about 30k miles ago if I remember rightly from the service history £80 for the wheels and tyres
Open to offers on all of the above and if you want any little bits, just fire away. Also if you want pics of anything, let me know and I'll sort some out (will put some up this weekend)
I don't do 'dibs' - if you want something you can either pay me a deposit or be prepared to lose it to someone who turns up with the cash, sorry!
