Lovely stuff! I used to have a Mk1 Scamp and it was so much fun to drive ;D I really miss it. Looking forward to seeing it come along! A scaled-down version of 'that' Land-Rover? Talking of land rovers and scamps... here's a gif of my old scamp that had a land rover roof grafted on it

Hey c4pri, were you the chap with the capri and iirc a 2CV? I had the Bedford TK in the shutter unit next to yours for a few months. I've used self store on and off for years and years and agree that gary and richard are top blokes. I used the inspection quite pits often (including the massive hgv one for my TK) I had a 40' lorry trailer type container which they let me put a side door in for better access (in fact they paid for it and got someone to install it for me!) Good times there ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I'm still local to it, only 5 mins away

I weighed in a Polo (6n2) box a couple of months back and got £15, that was an autobox so I'm guessing slightly heavier than manual

had a v. quick go before bed, making a car black seems a lot harder than other colours so it's a not that great first effort ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png) ![](http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/jj495/phnarphnarphnar/black.jpg)

In need of a small alternator benzine

I needed a small one for my kit car and types often used with kit cars are bedford rascal, micra & charade. I found a 90's Daihatsu Move in the scrapyard and it's alternator was even smaller than those, £10 that cost and they are very easy to take off the donor car (although not the most common car to find in scrapyards, I've seen a few though)

Thanks for all the replies, lots to look into! What about a Taxi? Both models seem to have auto options. What's it going in? If it's a Caterham clone kit car then my somewhat agricultural suggestions will start to seem silly... The fairway taxis look interesting. It would be going in my amazon. I was going to use an XUD and mate a RWD autobox but if there's something that'll come as a package or bolt together then it'll save me no end of time.

I'm looking for an engine and gearbox and have quite a few requirements. Are there any cars that use the following: diesel 4 cylinder, RWD, automatic gearbox, mechanical injection, preferably can run on veg oil.
I believe there are some mercs (OM604?) that have some of the above but I read they are a swine to run outside of the merc due to electronically controlled gearbox? and they might not run on veg? Then there are older merc engines like the OM601 but they look like they're very hard to get hold of and pricey.
Alternatively are there any engine and box combos that bolt together easily and are relatively easy to obtain? (ebay, scrapyards etc)

Fit the HDi flywheel + pressure plate, along with a ford galaxy friction plate (this is the correct size, and has the correct centre spline) Can I ask why the HDi flywheel and not the XUD one? I'm sure there's a good reason for it, just asking as I mentioned the HDi/galaxy info to a friend who has a 306td and he wondered why. He said it's common for people running HDi engines to swap to XUD clutches. I'm putting an XUD + LDV box into my kit car at the moment. Pilot spigot bearing turned up in the post the other day, nearly finished making engine mounts and then I need to sort out a flywheel & clutch etc. Thanks for the info btw, great thread!

Model: Peugeot 306TD Year: 1997 Mileage:111k Tax:none MOT: October 4th 2012 Location: Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire Price: £325 Contact details: 07989 545 860 (9am-9pm) Bought a few months back to act as daily driver whilst I repaired our Polo. Polo is now sorted so the Peugeot is up for sale. It has been very reliable, we've used it daily and it took us on holiday to Cornwall without any problems. 1.9 turbo diesel (Lucas pump). Manual, electric sunroof. Condition is pretty good for it's age, few little dents and scratches. A few niggles: rev counter is intermittent. When I bought it, it didn't work at all, I took the plug to the sensor off the gearbox and put it back on and it now works sometimes, I recon with a good clean it might work better. Indicator relay sometimes does some random clicks, the indicators don't flash, it just clicks (indicators all still work fine) Central locking has a slight issue, I've narrowed it down to front passenger door. Locking works fine if locked from front passenger door, if locked from the drivers door it unlocks itself (unless you reach over and lock passenger door first) Backbox needs another rubber hanger. ![](http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/jj495/phnarphnarphnar/kk1.jpg) ![](http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/jj495/phnarphnarphnar/kk3.jpg) ![](http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/jj495/phnarphnarphnar/kk2.jpg) ![](http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/jj495/phnarphnarphnar/kk4-1.jpg) ![](http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/jj495/phnarphnarphnar/kk6.jpg) ![](http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/jj495/phnarphnarphnar/kk5.jpg) I bought this for £450 without tax, selling for the same with tax, just want it out of the way so will consider very close offers. My insurance runs out of Friday (10th) so if it hasn't sold by then it won't have tax. Any questions PM or call
