That is absolutely lovely. I applaud you for taking a sensible route modification-wise. Don't forget to get an insurance quote though with any modifications declared, but be prepared...insurance companies are sharks and you'll find your premium goes through the roof even for a mild hit with the lowering stick and a set of alloys. Probably better to get your test passed and some miles under your belt first. That car's dead cool just as it is. Ohhh....and we're a pretty catholic bunch on here when it comes to old tin. Let's have a look at the Lea-Francis as well!

I don't own it any more, but when I did it registered 112db on a noise meter. Two cylinders, 602cc, peashooter-sized pipework but virtually nothing in the way of actual silencing.

Thanks Guys! For converting the windows, I'm aiming to buy some MK1/2 doors then transfer the window rail and other parts onto the MK3 doors. I definatl want to do the dash, but I was think of just getting MK2 rear lenses then welding MK1 conversion plates. You'll struggle with that route. Mk1/2 doors are a completely different size, as you can see on this pic: Looks a very tidy example though.

Just got an email from them but letter head Insurance MG Services ? Have they changed Lancaster Insurance Services were formed in 1984 as the insurance division of the MG Owners' Club. They are now an independant company, though. I'd recommend Richardson Hosken Specialist Cars Division. Brilliant customer service, and reasonable cost. RH Specialist Vehicle Insurance

That is NICE.
I had a late 205 Auto for a while, don't be put off by the lack of clutch. They are very very nippy with 1580cc to lug them along, the one I owned had single-point injection (and a bit less poke than this earlier carb-fed model) but was identical apart from that. 45mpg on a run and 35 around town makes for a very liveable-with Gallic runabout. Like a lot of French cars, 205s manage to handle brilliantly while still being insanely comfortable on a long journey.
GLWTS.

I've heard the B-side, unfortunately it's got naff-all in the way of automotive content, but for those of you still reading this it's a piece of typical late 60's 'blue-eyed soul' with all the trademarks of the era (stinging brass, fuzz-box guitar, looping picked bass runs, vaguely Northern Soul-esque beat etc etc), produced by Mark Wirtz of 'Excerpts From a Teenage Opera' fame. Oh buggar....here it is, have a listen. [/anorak]

We did indeed 'do' Harry Buckland's last year. I distinctly remember lying down in the back of KFW's Prairie trying to focus on the headlining and failing as I was still completely shedded from the night (and morning) before. I got up pretty sharpish once we started moving though, lest I parked the contents of my stomach over the Nissan's lovely upholstery.

I think it looks great. The whole BMW/BBS ethos taken to a whole new level. With the added bonus of making the 6" turnup brigade choke on their Pabst. 8)
As has been already said, not what you'd expect from Mike Burroughs. But on the other hand EXACTLY what you'd expect from Mike Burroughs.

Most cassette players automatically ejected tapes when the power was turned off, to save damage to the tape surface from leaving it in contact with the playback head.

My current whip. I almost gave up on older stuff, and bought a modern. Though I'm sure to many on here this IS a modern. I don't care, it's 24 years old, adding 200+ miles a week to the 180,000 it's already done and returning 53mpg. All the time remaining smooth, fairly (it DOES have an XUD dizzler in it, after all) quiet and insanely comfortable. And all for £350. Sometimes I even clean it. I really should start a Reader's Rides thread for it at some stage. ;D

That is clean! A Mk1 2000 was my first car when I passed my driving test 30 years ago, have always had a soft spot for them.
That's a lovely car.

Why would you want a plate that reads 69 PUG? Ideal for the man who likes having 'reciprocal simultaneous oral pleasure' with small, ugly snub-nosed dogs with ancestry dating back to the Chinese Shang Dynasty. Of fairly limited appeal, I'd wager.

Absolutely fantastic set of pics, pete. Looking forward to seeing the others from what's been an epic trip (been following it on facef**k). This...... ....floats my boat. I know of a similar vehicle not a million miles away from here that could use those front panels!!!!

It was 1985. I went to look at a '67 Chevy Impala, Canadian-spec so RHD with a 327 in it rather than the 283 I think it was built with. Jacked rear, enormous slotmags, bit scruffy but an immaculate metallic blue vinyl interior and sounded (to the ears of an impressionable 20 year-old) magnificent. wallowy old thing, but no worse than the Mk3 Cortina I had at the time. Taxed, MOT'd, £400.I bought a 1600XL Capri instead. What a knob.

Brilliant! Looking forward to seeing this finished. Cheltenhams were a real premium caravan brand in the 60s/70s, it's a surprise to see just how gimcrack the build quality actually was. Daddy Damaged always wanted one when I was a nipper. Makes me wonder how bad the cheapie '68 Sprite Musketeer we had back then must have been!

That steering wheel is off a Mk1 Triumph 2.5pi. Pretty rare I imagine. IIRC BL Minis share the same spline arrangement, widening your wheel choice somewhat!!!!

Great stuff! Am I right in thinking that the six-pot lump in these saw service much later in the Jeep Cherokee? (I almost resisted the temptation to mention Wayne's World. FAIL
