Depends why you care... Are you wondering, to maybe buy one before others start favouring them, and get a bit of a bargain? Or. Are you interested in making money from one as an investment? If the latter, it will be a long old game and probably very marginal when you think of storage and maintenance costs, even if just stored. Also, I believe most price inflation in old Ford's is related to their motorsport pedigree. Beyond the mk2, is there any?

Still not sure what a 'JDM style' would actually look like? I like 510's but I'm not sure from the pics I have seen, what touches they could inspire on a dolly that haven't already been done, visually at least. Or are we actually just talking about fitting a JDM wheel?

I have not seen a car on 3 spokes that didn't make me think it would look better on different wheels. I guess that means I'm not a fan...

They don't like being lowered though - just because of ground clearance issues. What hits the ground first? As far as I could see in photos the exhaust sits pretty low... I'm guessing there isn't room for a tuck away system? It's the sump and sub frame that cause the most problems....

Mine is a Toledo as Emdee says. All outer panels are shared, it's just the headlamp mounting that allows switching from square to twin. Personally, I'm not a fan of the Dolly rear, that is why a Sprinted Toledo for me is the best option.
They don't like being lowered though - just because of ground clearance issues.
The PCD Isn't a dealbreaker. Sprintspeed make the necessary bits to allow Ford PCD wheels to be fitted. They also do the bubble arch kit.
If I ever put another engine in, which I felt had the power to back up the look, I'd be tempted to go bubble arches - no rear door issues on the 2 door :-)
I consider them more of the British 02, rather than a 510 though tbh....

With that set-up at the moment, there's very little to stop the hubs rotating forwards under braking and acceleration; the top arms can move sideways letting the top of the hub move forwards. As long as they link those 2 arms at the top together, so they form one rigid wishbone then this won't be an issue at all, but as it is I'd expect some tramping under braking/acceleration as the hub twists on the bushes. If you look at similar set-ups on other cars, you'll see they either have a both the top and bottom arms positively located for fore/aft movement, or they'll have the arm with 2 mounting points beefed up so it can resist the twisting on its own. Glad to here you're sticking with the k-series. I've always liked the idea of them, and it seems a perfectly suited engine for the car. Good luck with it Ah, yes, that reminds me. The plan is apparently to connect the arms by a welded plate. It didn't really register when Mile told me on the phone a couple of weeks ago, but now it's obvious. Glad there are people like you and him that know what they're doing. Thanks for the replies.

Good stuff, looks like a cool little set-up, should definitely be a nice step-up from the trailing arms. I was a touch worried that it'd end up with no real rotational location on the hub, but no paint on the top arms, when the bottoms are painted's a good clue they're not done yet, so not to worry! It's much more in keeping with the light-weight theme of the car having a nice box/tube set-up back there too, much more suited than the heavy e30 stuff. What's happening with the engine in the end? (sorry if it's already been covered, I can't remember if you got over the earlier issues or not?) From the quick demo I was given, the hub moves vertically with no visible camber change - if that's where your concernes were? We're trying the same engine again. No reason to think it won't be okay, based on the last strip down The install, with the oil circuit through the apollo tank will be scrutinised in detail, with new sets of eyes, so we'll be making sure there is nothing about the set up itself that should cause problems. With the extent of the work over the last year, I may be getting the car to an MOT'ed state without repaint and trim work for a while..... At least that way, it can be driven, any niggles sorted. The aesthetics in terms of a nice shiny paint job can always wait - and will probably have to, as the cost can't be justified over family stuff.

Looks really cool, love the new look. I take it that top wishbone's not finished in those pictures? Cool, thanks. No, exactly, the photos were taken part way through the fabrication. I'll get better shots once the frame has been powdercoated and in final assembly.

Hey Guys, The build thread has been far too quiet recently - apologise to those who are following it. Well, there has been progress, so I'll throw a couple of pics up, and will provide more details when I get the time.... The major change has been underneath the rear of the car. This, not insubstantial, change came about after a number of different conversations with different people. E30 semi trailling rear arms and diff out - fully indepenedent suspenion in. Modified Westfield uprights and wishbones. Sierra XR4x4 LSD in custom diff frame. Without the diff and frame - Diff in - Sierra halfshafts will have to be modified next. The car has not got back onto its wheels and some photos taken, just to keep motivation up (apologies for camera pics) I think we have a little retro racer being born.....

Was a nice little meet. Nice bunch of guys and some cool cars. Anyone else think that driving through Richmond park would be fun with a spud gun? (nothing to do with deer).

Lovely, lovely pics. Couldn't go this year, but discovered the live streaming available on the Goodwood site which was brilliant. The racing footage is the best free TV I have seen in ages.

Not quite, it was based on a Honda Ballade, not an Accord. A Ballade is even rarer than an Acclaim.... Wrong though - The afore mentioned Triumph Acclaim as it was badged in Britain, shown here badged as a Honda Civic in it's U.S spec, effectively a 4dr Prelude or vice versa. (The Ballade came later, superceeding the Acclaim/Civic1, and was twinned with the Rover 213). Ermm, you sure? I actually remember seeing some as a kid badged as a Ballade. The Ballade you mentioned was the 2nd model using that name. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Ballade

The Acclaim was just a rebadged Honda Accord, wasnt it? Theres an old guy locally who drives (or used to at least) a first gen accord, looks just like an Acclaim Not quite, it was based on a Honda Ballade, not an Accord. A Ballade is even rarer than an Acclaim....

I don't think you can... but I'll have a look at making custom views so we can have a Recent Non-ForSale Threads or something. That would be awesome, thanks. Appreciate it would prob be better as an additional view - in case othetrs don't feel the same as me

Hi. Whenever I come onto the forum, I look at 'recent threads' first. I have been finding the forum less and less engaging, and I think it's because so many 'recent threads' are classified Ads. I come on here to see and talk about cool old cars. I don't know if anyone else feels the same - the Ads are starting to make the place to feel like Gumtree. I know ads can be of interest to other RR'ers. but it seems harder to avoid them these days. Would it be possible to exclude classifieds from the recent threads shortcut?

Brilliant. Congratulations! Lovley little things, and so glad I bought mine, and hopefully will never have to part with it. Proper sleeper with the Sprint engine. Look forward to hearing about your experiences.
