Steady on, no need to be like that. Yes I did misinterpret your post but maybe it could have been clearer.
Going from 165/80 to 165/70 will reduce the diameter significantly so the speedo will read well out.

No, if the profile isn't specified it's 80 so they'll be 165/80-13 with load index 82 and speed rating T (same size as my Fun in fact).
You don't say what width the wheels are which would be useful - however, you can usually get away with going up 1 step in width and down 1 step in profile which more or less maintains overall diameter. Hence 175/70-13 ought to be OK.

Nice! I don't know a great deal about these, but i do know they are a Peugeot 205 underneath (at least on the front) after some experience with a mate's Visa-based C15 van. Makes sense, given the era. This means 309 track control arms fit, for a touch of camber, but more the point, GTi wishbones - not to mention the tall block engines (1.9/2.0 16v and probably 3.0 V6), although the range of smaller engines would be enough for most (as, i suspect, would the original engine..). Also fairly easy to convert to RHD. Love the look of them, particularly in their early form. Plans? Don't confuse the diesel C15 van with the (non GTI) petrol cars - very different beasts underneath - virtually no commonality with the XU & TU engined 205's.

For the age & neglect, that looks pretty good. (I quite like the CX myself.)

I ran a 1256 Chevette for a while many years ago. Only mod was I swapped the Stromberg for a 28/36 Weber - massive improvement, and I do mean massive.
Looks like you have a good one there.

wernt the engines out of these cars capable of very high rpm with drcent power...think a friend built one for grass track back in the old days? 8k is about the limit for good reliability. 130bhp or maybe a bit more which isn't bad for an 8v 1300cc that can weigh as little as 700kg if you go to town on it. I rallied one for years (sold it earlier this year) - mine was a quite mild 1360 with 116bhp & 750kg but with the PTS close ratio gearbox went very well. I've got a lot of experience with them so if you get stuck, feel free to ask. Suspension-wise, Nigel at Avo made me a set of tarmac dampers, adjustable damping & spring platforms, with swapable inserts for the top mounting bolt to give camber adjustment for quite reasonable money. I ran 150lb/in springs & 23mm ARB at the front with 130lb/in main 100lb tender springs at the rear with 20mm ARB. Best handling car I've ever driven.

The engine found its way into the Pug 104's and Citroen Visa's, however i couldn't comment if the mounting are the same ? Any help this way is appreciated, thread re awoken!! 104 and Visa mountings are the same as the Samba. The engine can also be found in early 205's and BX14's - mountings are different but you just unbolt the 205/BX mounts and bolt the Samba ones on.
