I wouldn't be overly concerned if no thread is sticking out, that'll be the full depth of the nut that is threaded so plenty for it to grip on to. Any pics/measurements of the length of the stud?
Could just be the manufacturer fitting short studs for steelies, and an alloy wheel being thicker than the original steel that was on there.

I had some fun at Cadwell Yesterday, although I probably was not as quick as you TBH! However, I am surprised that you like the Helix 4 paddle. I am not a fan and none of my friends can drive it. I am told the AP 4 paddle is meant to be friendlier . Mind you it is not bad on the track bar the weight of the clutch. What suspension are you running? The car seems planted for sure. What is your opinion on the ATB? I am debating getting one for my RST which I reckon is an open diff ATM . G'day ChasR. Glad you had a good day, if nothing broke then even better! I actually took the Nova to Snetterton on Monday 9th, unfortunately it was wet and my Toyo T1Rs were all over the shop, so today I'm ordering some Rainsport 3s to replace them. Helix is good, it's only the friction plate mind and not the full setup including the uprated cover plate. It's a bit grabbier but perfectly drivable and feels great out on track. Overview of suspension is.... Front: Gaz GHA coilover, 2.25" 325lb spring Adjustable alloy topmounts Poly bushes Strengthened bottom arms GTE thicker tie bars Spherical bearing tiebar brackets (lowered for braking 'anti dive') Front ARB (although testing with running without for improvements) Rear: Gaz GHA coilover, 1.9" 250lb spring Poly bushes Nova rear ARB Cav rear ARB I really like the ATB, driven it for years and it's great on road and OK on track. I've recently had mates move over to plate diffs and really like those on track, so if it were pure track I'd be looking at one of those I think. One thing I did notice at Snetterton in the rain was accelerating out of a corner made it heavily understeer opposed to my mates open diff, but that can probably be fixed with driving style.

This looks ace. I'd love a Baja beetle despite not really being a beetle person.

I very much hope I don't end my days in that way. My missus thinks I'm mad for even considering driving it to and from trackdays. I guess you trailer yours? Yeah drove to them for about a year, realised I was overdue a failure so tow it now and had about 3 large failures since. It's only a lightweight single axle although my lowered E34 5 series daily isn't the greatest tow car. In fact remembering back to Cadwell, I took spare driveshafts so fitted a new shaft at lunchtime and carried on the rest of the day! That looks like it a superb one. Something that all of us can look up to! I have many questions but they shall have to wait. I am off to Cadwell tomorrow myself, albeit in the Clio! Questions welcome, PM if you want, everything's documented more thoroughly elsewhere. Have a good day! Bloody good thread - well documented and you've had your share of issues but resolved them by upgrade/improvement Thanks for sharing Thanks! Having been out in the mk2 Astra rallycar in the last few pics, I have some handling improvements to do next as that was a real eye opener what's possible to achieve in a FWD Vauxhall.

Great car, I run a 525i SE as a daily and the M50 2.5 is nice and reliable.
Wipers hitting the bonnet is indeed a common issue, I think it's mainly due to slop in the linkage. My drivers side one catches slightly so I raised it up a few splines to clear. Saw one in the scrappy and it had worn through completely leaving a hole in the wiper arm!

The old girl's looking well used now since I built it. Rear disc conversion using Corsa C donor parts, with Cav ARB fitted too Wilwood 4 pot front calipers too New 5 point harnesses New gearbox rebuilt with good synchros, and Quaife 4.2 final drive I later rebuilt this as it had too much side play, turns out a circlip wasn't seated properly, but it taught me how to strip a gearbox so it's all good

Trackdays got more serious so got some Michelin slicks in 2013, which I'm still using now! For the slicks I fitted a baffled sump Paint was tired on the bumpers from rattle can so painted them properly in 2pack using a gun Uprated oil cooler for track use Stack gauges to keep an eye on pressure and temps Later on I changed to Millers oils which helped the oil temps and pressures a lot And a Z20LET oil pump with better gear design keeps pressure nice and high, with modified pickup And in early 2014 got a mag feature in Total Vauxhall, yipee.

Yet more trackdays Made some custom hubs using Audi bearings, Cav big block hubs and machined Nova knuckles, big strong setup for big block shafts Had some hilarious moments with things falling off on track Which just led to robust fixes so it didn't happen again Added some skirts and Nova Sport style graphics Snapped a valve spring! So head got another rebuild Chipped ECU to remove rev limit and added an omex limiter, give it a bit more oof. Still mild tune with some mild Kent cams Looking quite good now.

Flocked dash Starting to get more track focussed with modified turrets for castor And strengthened bottom arms Equal length shaft setup Wrinkle paint covers
