Well as per down&out's thread... Ive bought his ol maxi... He wasnt having much luck with getting it going. And as we've all done at some point , Lost heart in it... Much like me with my old cub last year.... I was slyly looking around for a ped of some sort due to alot of work opertunitys being in southampton. Which is a jolly pain in the backside to drive to, And mostly in the dock area which is too far to ride a pushbike to. Id allready ruled out hondas.... Ive had on the + side of 30 of the things now so time for a change... Then I heard the mention on here of a possible puch for sale.... ;D Deal was done friday night in the dark. After a long drive home and p*ssing its fuel into the boot of the carlton It sat untouched while I did the clutch on dads sierra... Then tonight I had a fiddle with it ;D not bad for 30 mins work... Did the important bits like swapping for a clamp style stem, Decluttering the bike and fitting chopped and dropped triumph racer pushbike bars Havnt looked at the motor yet but a few little tweeks are in order...One very obvious (to me) one is fitting an ignition switch As got out of shed tonight... Fitted locknuts to shock mounts Next to my puch supersprint pushbike.... Also purple ;D As she sits tonight in the carport...

Right... Been allocating a half hour or so a day to playing with this thing due to other commitments.. Decided i wanted a switch or at the very least a kill switch for it , so i didnt have to rely on the decomp valve. Upon looking at the wiring i realised this early model doesnt have the same wiring as later ones. So a little bit of fiddling would be needed.... I then made a tool to pull the flywheel off as the ol hammer and lever trick wasnt going to happen... Its not pretty but it works ;D From a glance it all looks hunky doory... But what you cant see (and neither did i) is the small wire, lt side of the coil is fractured inside the coil casing. So a slight wiggle of it causes a broken circuit. And a dead ignition. So i ordered a new coil... On the 15th... It turned up today.... realy reccomend ypvs50cc on ebay cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180634771699&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_500wt_715 So i quickly fitted that up. Adjusted the points and wired a earth cable in from the condenser up to the kill switch on the bars... Also chopped the curse word*d ends off the HT lead and re threaded the coil and cap back onto it... Kicked it over and its got a great spark now... Also fitted a early brooks springer saddle i have (bought at beauleiu autojumble last year) Lowered it down and its the most comfortable thing ive ever sat on... Also fitted a wipac wing'd wheel rear light and trial fitted the plate lower .... (needs re-numbering so will be done up other way) Realy liking it now.... Ive decided I'm definatly not cutting the rear end off. It needs to stay full framed. Its seems to be a given that any modified puch needs the rear sliced and its not a look i want to go for. As much as i like it. Id like to change it up a bit.... The plate also covers up the tiny width of the rear tyre too while this low... I want it to look like it was built like this years ago. Not like it was recently built, But not ratlook either. Just like its had a "used" life...

Oh and fitted the gaskets for the clutch housing that down&out so kindly supplied with the bike, And topped it up with ATF.
Also a set of beefy pedals of a late 80s muddyfox mtb.. ;D
Going to drop the motor out once its running... (might try tommorow) And give it a good de-grease/ clean... New set of tyres, throttle cable and maybe a decomp cable, And also loads of polishing of the remaining paint and chrome...

I found one once. And actually saw them on a weekend clubmeet in the lanes outside winchester once!! Was kinda scary catching up with a old moby doing 25 in a national speedlimit road haha... Ill try find the club details again As for getting the ped in the car. I can get this in the carlton estate... Its just the fuel falling out that annoys me haha

should organise a hardcore rolling road session for these mopeds. Have to strap them down well so they don't leap off the rollers at full powah!
