I've never replaced one you can still get them out once they're broken they're just a curse word design. I reckon a lot of modern cars are fine now, but give it 10-15 years once all the fittings have corroded and/or gone brittle and there will be some big repair bills for simple bulb changes.

Alfa 147 bulbs on the front are a bumper off jobbie!! Yaris headunits are a dash off undo bolts etc in fact any Toyota with a bolted in headunit was a PITA Ax alternators are funny, the engines were put in with the ancillairys on already so the bolt is impossible to remove to release the alt. you either have to loosen the engine mounts and raise the engine slightly on a jack, or just do what everybody does and smash the lip of the inner wing down until the bolt can wiggle out ;D

You can do 147s without removing the headlights, again it just depends on the size of your hands and your pain barrier lol. Yaris headunits take me about 10 minutes now. Infact most stereo/hands free fitting is now super quick. Stereo in a Bini (either pre or facelift) in 25 minutes lol. Early Corsa B's are a pain in the to fit stereos in. Easiest method is to unbolt the ashtray so you can get your hand up the back to put the plugs and aerial in as they're really short. Most time consuming fit is putting a stereo that uses a power lead into a Rover 45. That's a glovebox off job to pull the power lead through the slot that's not quite big enough in the back of the dash as the stereo won't go all the way in otherwise. Matt

Does anyone else get the feeling this is turning into "who found the hardest job while working at halfords?" lol
Oh and BTW, Megane passenger indicator bulb, 4 mins. No (appreciable) blood.

To the OP, Mitsubishi Colt is the same, got the little flap in the wheelarch too. Then you need to have double jointed wrists... and my basketball player-sized hands don't help with the job at hand.
Pushing in the new heater cables into the pipes in my 63 karmann was a nightmare... Had to sacrifice a wire coat hanger to clear out the curse word/rust/old grease from the cable pipe.

plugs on a merc c240 v6 there are 12 of them and theres just enough room to get the coil on plug off. there buried so deep in the head you have to use a extension on the socket but theres no room to get the plug, socket and extension out in one go. removing valves from a lancia v4 engine the valves in the middel of the head are at a angle which means you need a valve spring compresor thats so huge that you cant hold it in place and compres it with two hands. replacing a starter motor on a 924 porsche, its under the exhaust mainfold and you cant get to it from below as the steering and crossmember is in the way. headlights on a boxter, there dosen't seem to be anything that holds them in until you lift the bonnet and theres a hole in the inner wing that you put a allen key into and then they jusy slid out, took me a good hour to find that one.

My brother in law was having starting problems on his Merc A Class, I went round had a listen, could hear the starter ticking, so told him 'no worries - will probably cost you £100 for a starter, but I will fit it, will only take me half an hour'
Look on the internet to find him a price for the starter motor - turns out it is a common problem. Also turns out that the starter is on top on the gearbox somewhere, between the box and bodywork (on the A class, in a feat of clever packaging, the engine and box dissapear off under the car floor), so it is an engine out (or at least dropped) job to change a starter motor - wonderful!

Does anyone else get the feeling this is turning into "who found the hardest job while working at halfords?" lol ;D theres enough of us exfitters/fitters on here to carry on for a bit I'm sure.......so glad i don't have to do it these days feel for you who are still there Oh i did once go to do a set of wheel trims on a Punto for an elderly gent, the other fitter couldn't get them off until i pointed out they were bolted in using the wheel bolts! Not difficult, just a bit of a faf and somewhat frowned upon by management

lol, my area manager hated me... mainly because when they brought in the "no facial piercings whatsoever" rule.. I pretty much ignored it, and just got more. He was also "hairist" (hated anyone with long hair) and hated my mohawk. But he was a tosser anyway - was always fun when management sent me on a free lunch break if he turned up, just so he didn't see me One of the new-ish corsas, the battery is in the scuttle, which is fair enough, but the plastic gaurd thing that's on the bottom of the windscreen, that the wipers attatch to, needs to either be removed, and re-glued back in place... or "modified" with the owners consent so many bad memories...

I'll stick to jobs i've done recently or i'll be here all frikken day ;D Jag XJS rear discs and caliper, well TBH anything to do with the rear brakes on a jag incoard setup 1 of the V12 plugs that's behind/under the bloody A/C pump !! Rover 800 headlamp bulbs, remove the bloody bumper. Merc Vito alt, remove half the O/S suspension and drive shaft to get the alt out Mondeo alt, just in a hard to get at bloody place and you have to replace all the ducting or the new alt goes in weeks (overheats). Previa injection pump (diesel) start by removing the front seats and cab floor Gear linkage cables on a focus, not really difficult but you need to cut the carpet or remove the whole bloody dash Vito rocker cover gasket, cover wont come off psat the glow plugs and they are a once only use item that you have to smash out in bits to remove, there is a special tool merc sell that smashes the glow plugs for ease of removal pluss you need new glow plugs, all for a frapping rocker cover oil seal !!!
