Put on some deck shoes, place your jumper around your shoulders, have look in the mirror and then come back with your verdict.
Hey, if you want one and have the spare lolly then why not. If it means the kids are eating beans for the next 6 months, even more reason!! Sweets are bad for them anyway.

I'm going to build a small speed boat when i finish, mabe 12'? I would like to either put a 250cc motorbike engine in it, or a 60Hp gas turbine all attached to a jet drive from a jetski.
Dave - i am lucky to have never been near your dads boat, but the story of gary looking like hes listening intently to your dad bang on about radar this and diesel that, when in fact hes totally shut down, still makes me laugh!

You'll like this then - single seater with a 5.5 hp outboard that my brother built when he was at school: (Pic taken before the steering & throttle linkages properly set-up - it now has conventional controls)

Always a bit dubious about the image of speedboats - they give me a mental image of Essex trash towing them with a flashy 4wd on the A12 out to the coast on a sunny weekend.
However, did have a ride in one years ago and the impression of speed is way more than in a car, I can see the appeal.

Would £3-4k buy an ex-MOD amphib?
Drive it in, float around, beer and BBQ on the roof. Lovely.

Paul H, thats a propper school project! Boats have more in common with cars than fishtanks IMO. can't find the topgear gear!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Get an Amphicar, or an Argocat 8x8 FTW! Nah - you want one of these: A little pet project of mine - quasi hot-rod styling (for hydrodynamic reasons), midengined (500hp quad cam V6), four wheel drive (driveshafts are the lower links to aid ground clearance) & water jet propulsion, huge suspension travel, and unlike all other amphibious cars, it should actually perform well on the water, especially in rough weather. ;D ;D ;D
