Ciao Retroisti.....
Here in Sweden the last couple of weeks has been like summer, warm and sunny and then I have mostly been doing this:
This last weekend the temp has crept down again, chilly stuff, riding bikes was out of the question so I had a go at the Shop Slammer Skoda to get it ready for the "Show season". I still have to leave winter wheels and stock springs on snice next weekend is a 4 day holliday over here end I'll be going up north for the last snowboarding of this season. I bought the Skoda 3 years ago as a Shop Hack to haul bikes & gabage, pull horse & motorcycle trailers and use as a cheap daily driver. First summer it was run all stock, blue paint & stock wheels and all, last summer I gave it a suede grey primer paintjob, got some springs and cut them down and fitted a set of 14" Golf rims with 165-50-14" tires and Moondiscs, sadly it performed lousy with load, to low and the rear sagged badly so for 2006 I have got new rear springs (that will be cut down) and a set of Volvo 740 helper air-bags to stick inside the rear springs for some load help and to top it of a set of 6.5X15" Seat Ibiza TDI steelies, Bridgestone Smart 175-55-15" rubber & Moondiscs and I sure hope to be able to pull trailers and load a bike in the back without leaving the road abruptly....
A car that's painted suede/primer looks real sad after a winter here in Sweden with salt on the roads rust start to show through real fast, since the primer does not seal every spot of rust will blead through in no time, this is what it looked like.....
After at couple of hours with the sander and a couple of coats of Rust Eater I now put a coat of Hammerite gloss paint on all rust spots to seal it before going over with a fresh coat of primer....
After a coat of primer it now looks real good & ready for the road again.....
Last year I was not happy with the overall look of the truck, grey outside & grey inside, verry dull & flat so for this summer I have loaded up with a bunch of shiny stuff to brighten it up a bit. I found chrome mirror & door handle covers from Milotec, a small chrome strip in the nose and a chrome fuel filler door. Inside I fitted chrome window winders & gear knob I also found a Retro Looking steering wheel (that I might polish), I also have a Moon Go-Pedal, and some gear knobs choices for the inside. A set of christall LED side repeters will be fitted and of course Moondiscs, hopefull it will add some Bling to the Shop Slammer.....
DP says: Yeahh I know a 2000 car is NOT Retro but what do ya all say.......
