hi guys and girls as some of you might know I own a triumph. Its been over a year since I got the car and I think it is about time I did a thread on it. I have done some work to the car over the past year. hers how it looked like when I got it the number 1 priority was to get the car through its mot, a lot of the major structural welding had been done . The cross member and steering rack needed bolting back. The steering column had some play that had to be rectified, the seat runners needed some welding to attach them back to the drivers seat. Changed the wheel bearing and bearing seals on the front hubs, rebuilt the front callipers and finished off with some new disks and pads. Many thanks to composimmonite for the Haynes manual, which was handy when I had to refer to torque wrench settings. Changed the bonnet because it was abit crusty and bolted the front bumper back on. the interior it needed painting putting back together and a couple of patches on the sill. capped and smoothed off apologies for the crappy camera pictures the gearbox tunnel needed a patch on it before I could put it back together sorry don't have a picture for that. gave the floor a couple of coats of rust treatment and some seam sealer on the welds and seams. some hammerite silver just because I had it and it would not be seen under the carpet once the paint was dry, the carpet went back in, looking brand new haha. booked the car in for MOT and it passed fop the first time with no advisorys the bloke who done the mot was well impressed with the car cheers Gobs

Had it over a year, I know you must have more pictures than that. Looking good, I don't know why these aren't more popular.

update time managed to get some pictures uploaded here is a picture of the car in all its glory after the MOT test After the mot the first job I wanted to look at was the fuel tank to just to make sure it was not on its way out because the new in line filter I installed was already filled with rusty metal bits. so i pulled it out was not too bad just a bit of surface rust. inside was ok aswell some rust treatment covered the whole lot with chemical metal just in case of any pinholes, and finished it off wit a lick of hammerite silver. thanks Gobs

so the front wings seemed to have developed a rash around the lights and at the front of the bonnet. I thought it might be some surface rust so id go over it with a flap wheel before it gets worse. got the grinder out and gave it a go not to bad so far this side had a bit more filler but still manageable some rot around this area to investigate the nearside further I went on carried on around the corner and had a war with a kilo of filler that was hiding this haha. painted the whole lot with some rust primer to stop getting any worse as I was not prepared to find this next task was stripping the front end to assess the rot before beginning a session of weldathon

update time its a big one you might want to get the kettle going Note (pictures might not be in order of works carried out) so started stripping the front end and walla see what we has from under the other side Enough inspection, was time to get the big boys toys out hammers, tin snips, dollies and the welder grinders and the lot sheet metal donated by my good mate Matt started with light surrounds looks just about right, no laughing at the high tech welding trolley too the whole lot off to weld it properly and stuck it back on properly some rust treatment while i was waiting for it to dry knocked this up and welded it caped it all off and some rust primer this was a pig to do but got there eventually underneath trimmed it in to shaped and tacked in properly a painstaking process of welding without warping eventualy got there looking ok then flap wheeled the whole lot in to shape take a break next update will be the other side hope i am not boring ya all

Wow!!! Nice work there!! Looks like you're using some seriously thick steel as well, making that outer piece must have been a right war but you've done a cracking job.
