Well went and had a play about with the Tomos this afternoon. Started like this: Then stripped the back Then the front: Love it all stripped down. Have a list of things I need/need to do: Rub down all the surface rust and POR 15 the Frame/Satin black the forks Fit Low rise handle bars I've got coming Headlight and Taillight 4 indicators Fabricate some sort of very basic side panels Strip clean and rebuild carb as the float is sticking. New plug Change Transmission fluid. Clean everything and Get it MOT'd 70cc Kit Sport pipe Bigger carb Ride the hell out of it Should hopefully get started on cleaning and painting the frame tomorrow. So should be more pics then.

Nice surprise when I got to my 'rents this afternoon my Handlebars had arrived so shot out to the garage to get them fitted. Got all the twist grip etc off but the normal grip would just not budge. So I got sick and stripped the back end off and started rust treating the frame. Then my mate texted me and told me to soak the bars in hot water. Did that and grip came straight off so new bars were put straight on. Gotta say I absolutely love it! However I now need to shorted most of the wiring and cables for the brakes etc. Some ropey pics as it was in the garage and the back was stripped: I'm contuinuing work tomorrow, want to get the back end of the frame and swing arm painted in Red Oxide Primer and put together then strip the engine and forks off and sort the front end. I know doing it in stages like that seems a bit daft but I'm the kind of person that if I take it completely to bits I'll never get it back together again ;D

Cheers completely changed the look of the 'Ped and I love it.
The Pit is just a cheap Chinese copy. Still pretty capable though. Haven't been out on it for ages becausr of a lack of front brake atm haha

Love those pit bikes, such grunty little engines What I meant by crf70 is the size of it, they come in crf50 and crf70 sizes

Ah right. I think it must be crf70 as its a pretty big beefy one. Anyway I've been out working on the 'Ped again today. Got a couple of coats of Oxide Primer on. Then I loosely bolted it back together to give me a mojo boost: I'm very happy with how it looks..........from a distance. Need to strip the engine out and forks off to finish the rest of the frame. Then I'm going to strip the forks down and spray them all satin black. The finish is never going to be brilliant, but this is my first bike and I'm using it as a steep learning curve to try all my idea's out on. As I've mentioned once Its "finished" I would like to properly build a Puch Maxi. Powder Coated frame, Hydro Forks, Disc Brake, 74cc 6port kit, Race crank 20mm carb....*drools*

I do like these things stripped down like that.
Wish I was not 6 foot and 18 stone when I see these.
When we were old and small enough for them, we could not afford to modify them.

Wish I was not 6 foot and 18 stone when I see these. I know what you are saying. At 6 foot and 16 stone (Yes I had to look up the conversion for that ) I fear I will look like this on the vespa I just decided I didn't care and went with the biggest kit that would fit into the factory case so that it could haul my ass around.

Thanks for the comments guys! I'm away at the minute so work has stopped but come Friday I'm hoping to get the engine out and frame finished and the forks stripped down and started painting them. Then I can start the mechanical overhaul!
Absolutely fallen in love with the whole moped thing. This certainly won't be the last one I own.
