Anyone tried washing their car in this weather?

Been there, tried it.

When I had my first car, the garage I was working at had a carwash, and we used to 'borrow' carwash tokens, cue me washing it at dinnertime and coming back out to it at 5.30 to find every lock and opening frozen solid.

Lots of hot water and de-icer later I was able to climb through the boot and pop the doors from inside.

I wanted to clean the K10 before Christmas, that'll be through the local IMO drivethru. I'll let you know how I get on....

It's a pain in the but-tocks. I hooked my pressure washer up to a low pressure tepid water supply, and used one of those big Draper car wash brushes and a bucket of soapy water. Not my finest effort at car washing, but at least I can see out the windows now. I was also concerned about getting all the salt off the cars too - even Ford-era Jags need little encouragement to rot

yeah washed my car last weeks and icicles formed withing seconds. But as you said needed to get the salt off, really not kind to the paintwork

It's shocking how clueless we in the UK are when it comes to winter.

An old American mate of mine used to say "God made dirt and dirt don't hurt."

I'm selling the car this week, so it may show I've put a bit of effort in trying to remove the grime underneath the ice.
I covered the locks btw, I've been there before, (and broke the key off)!

When I was using my type3 daily and my beetle before that I worked on the principal that if you keep the chrome (hubcaps, bumpers, lights) clean the car looks a lot cleaner.

Now with the audi its the wheels. Keep them clean and the whole car looks clean with minimal effort.

i just clean the lights and numberplates off every now and then, and make sure the washer bottle is topped up.

If its not freezing i go round the petrol station and use the water hose, shove my finger over the end of it and blast that curse word out from under the arches...
