Just registered today, since I noticed my daily driver was posted in another thread. I didn't want to abuse the other thread (as it originally started out for another type of Opel Rekord), but did want to post some more info on the car.
It started life somewhere in the world, not sure where, but it got exported to france, from there it was exported to the Netherlands. Since then it has had 6 owners (including the importer and myself) and I kinda know them all.
It used to have a 1900cc engine but that was swaped out about 2 owners ago for a 2000cc because the 1900 was tired.. when he sold it, the new owner decided he didn't really love the car, and just went full throttle in 1th "gear". This made sure the engine wouldn't survive and a connecting rod snapped. This is when I saw my chance to buy it (since I already tried to buy it several months ago, but was just a week to late).
I bought a 2200cc, and a couple of weeks later another transmission and its running perfect now!
Wel,, enough chit chat, I don't have a lot of pictures, but I will post whatever I can find for now...
How it was imported:
Some pictures from previous owners:
then it got a paint job, did like the blue too though....
(note that the windows are not blinded with foil, but the are spray painted, pitch black!
next to its newer brother (who is actually used as a drifter for about a month ago, i'll see if I can post some pics from that too, really cool
Then I finally got my hand on it... and picked it up:
Got it in the workplace:
On a meeting, holding beers cool, and playing volbeat/elvis etc...
Lately I spend a couple of weekends and evenings on getting it APK (the dutch MOT) worthy. (because of its age it gets 2 years, )
I had a problem with the rear springs, well I didn't, but they weren't legal since they where cut mercedes springs and when the car would be going to fast over a speed bump the spring could fall out..
I solved the problem with a couple of vw golf III front springs, and with that, also lowered it a couple of extra cm's ;D
now it just needs to have another piece cut off the front springs
the automatic transmission wasn't really setup correct here, but the pic is clickable for a movie
enough for now, I see I have to resize some pics...
I still have a couple of pics more, but I have to get them from my phone first....
