I need to read up on it all realy. know it sounds cheaky but I want to do it the easest way. I have no need to be out on a 600cc straight away. Just want to lose my L plates and maybe get a superscooter for work dutys... Was wondering how involoved a restricted test is... You can do the 'light bike' ( I think it's called the A2 or something), this restricts you to a max output of 33BHP for 2 years, no L plates needed. After 2 years you can ride any bike, you can buy a 600 but it has to be restricted to 33BHP and after 2 years the restriction can be taken off. This is the test I'm planning to do next year & I'll hopefully be doing it on the GN as I know the bike & I'm confident in handling it. Ahh yeah, Just read it.... Seems to be an A2 licence? www.best-motorcycle-information.com/practical-motorcycle-test.htmlThat would be perfect for me.. Ive ridden some pretty big bikes. But realy don't have any need for it at the moment. And id prefer to build my bike confidence on a smaller bike, Plus save on fuel..

Rightyo folks... I'm selling up, I don't really want to put it on eBay so I'll just offer it up here and if no one is interested I'll keep hold of it. Basically I want a 125 bike like a Honda CG125 or something like that so I'm saving for it at the moment - I want to sell the Puch to go towards the bike, so if you want a swap for your 125 with money your way I could do that or just straight sell.
Feel free to read back through the thread, it's had a somewhat extensive rebuild to say the least.
V5 is present in my name Taxed Mot'd
Engine is fully rebuilt including
DMP 70cc kit with new piston and ring Racing conrod New bearings big and little end New gaskets 15mm bing replica carb Foam racing filter Biturbo exhaust (nice and poppy) New plug and lead Fresh gear oil and seals New fuel tap
Racing swing arm (expensive!) to allow for wider 2.75 tyres with new securing bolts.
New brake cables and new clutch cable.
New brake shoes front and rear.
New 2.75 wide tyres.
Custom rear arch with custom light and number plate bracket.
Resistor in the tail light wiring so it can handle the higher revs.
Custom seat mount.
Custom schwinn stingray handlebars.
New reg plate.
There's loads more if you fancy having a read of the thread. Basically I've spent an absolute fortune! Its good for a high revving slightly buttock clenching 55mph but I've also bought a new sprocket for it which I'll throw in which will make it cruise at lower revs and actually go even faster if you have have the balls...
Anyway, it was running great, I went up to see my mate and we rode it around all day. I left it in his garage, went to get it a few days later and no spark. I've had a little look in the magneto and it looks like the condensor wire has snapped but if I'm being completely honest I just want to swap it for some pound coins now and send it on it's way! So it's a none runner but it's taxed and Mot'd and will be an easy fix for someone. I've spent an absolute fortune on it coz I'm a spanner basically but you win some and you lose some eh? Hmmm... £300 ono and it's yours. Loads of pics in the thread, PM me or just reply in the thread cheers guys.
Oh it'll come with all my Puch stuff, 'Haynes' manual - race sprocket, old parts spare exhaust and carb etc.. And a flywheel pulling tool as well.

not tried mopedarmy, stopped goin on there as there seemed to be a large amount of spanners there! Reckon itd sell there? Seems a shame and if I had more cash Id keep it, but theres no point. If I had a 125 I wouldnt use the Puch anymore although if i fit the race sprocket and sort the wire in the magneto.... nah, think I'm done with it, its surprising how this place moves in waves, for a while readers mods could've been called readers puchs and now everyone seems to be sacking them off at the same time! I really want a 4 stroke, thats my only reason I want rid, I enjoyed the bigger and meatier feel of the ybr I did my test on. Anyway, seems like no one wants a classic quirky bike thats (stupidly) had over 800 odd quid spent on it with tax and test for less than 300 quid!!

I reakon it would go in a day or two if you ebay'd it dude. Put it on with a buy it now of £300. Put modified, retro, T+T in the title...
Moped army guys have quite a bit of money. I remember seeing at least 2 maybe three threads where people have mentioned a bike they bought from the UK or europe. Seems its cheaper to buy over here and import rather than buy one out there...

Well... No one seems to want me Puch! Looks like I'll just have to fix the jolly pain in the backside then eh? Got to change the brakes on my runabout Micra tomorrow then I can go down to my mates garage and bundle it in the back to finally bring home and show some attention to!

Haha I know! I just thought I'd have a play this afternoon and 2 hours later it was catapulting me up the road again Sounds like it needs a bit more of a play, makes a bit of a noise from the motor that it never used to, but it runs like a dream (kind of!) might whizz the head off and see if the piston ring looks ok. Haha, feels wierd updating the Puch thread! ;D

hi, i have a tomos bike engine with a few problems starting.. just wondering if you have any knowledge on these 2/engines in particular?
would u be able to tell me if on a magneato/points system the condenser itsself and feed into it by the wires should be earthed to the engine, also should the feed wire to the coil be earthed when the points are open?
any info will be a great help.
thanks

The condensor on my bike is earthed to the engine, has a recess that it actually sits in so its always (supposed to be!) tight and a good earth. The killswitch earths the ignition system to cut the engine out. Is this any use to you dude?

I want more info on it! Come on post up some pictures haha. sure, this was the puch before; new engine, new looks; painted, tuned, ready to test it out; img687.imageshack.us/img687/2962/puch056.jpg(yes, it fits in the vw golf, without a problem haha) little video, againt a tuned 74cc Gilardoni ; picture, puch and myself in action ; The engine now pumps out 18.3HP (in summertime, with different jetting/ignition 22,4hp the engine setup -Gilardoni 78cc from a Honda mbx80, tuned -puch crank, zundapp 16mm crankshaft -HPI ignition -home made clutch -calculated cylinderhead -calculated exhaust -28mm Carburettor (flowed) -Boyesen reedvalves, aluminium stuffer -ofcourse specially modified engine cases to fit the transfer ports from the cylinder (milled the cases down and welded 2 plates of aluminium on it) minutes later a few hundred people lost their eyebrows by a truck with a jet-engine (side show) ; Oh yeah, forgot.. I can't make turns with this puch, the groundclearence is nearly a sigaretlighter , I tried to turn once, but I lost the exhaust instantly ;D But that doesn't matter, I compete in dragraces only

It is with a heavy heart that I must announce - again - that the puch is dead. It seems that something has destroyed the crankshaft/flywheel relationship. I re made the 'loom' a few weeks ago and it sprang into life and pulled great, although if you remember, there was a somewhat nasty accompanying sound joining in with the nice noises turns out the sound was a battering of parts.... First of all I took the head off this morning in the begining of my investigation of the noise and to see if there where any obvious problems, I was greeted with this: Doesn't look like the mixture has been combusting properly... Piston seems ok but been burning too lean? Seems that way from looking at pics on google. No discernible play and the cylinder walls are lovely Oh. Balls. Permission. To say. Cock! So, that nasty noise (of which I have a short video clip) I can only assume was the sound of this happening to the crank, and judging by the carbon on the head being localised I'm thinking pre-ignition/detonation? Something sending a force back down the conrod to the crankshaft at the wrong time at least? On scrap heap challenge his morning they were building massive devices with sole purpose of flinging a scooter as far as possible into a quarry - I would quite happily have donated them some ammo...
