That is a damn shame!!! But let me give you a break. I got an crankshaft lying around here, just change the conrod, seals and berings with the ones who are on your f$%&ed up one. Just order some new gaskets and cut the base gasket in the shape of your ports of your cilindre, it'll increase the gas flow CLICKAnd also order the thingy that goes in your crank (in dutch it is called a spie. Those things can go in an envelope, so shouldnt be to much. I also got one of THESE lying around, it may not look like new (cause it isn't ) but it will give you more top end than the biturbo. And i am sure, there is a flywheel running around here with your name on it. I will give it to you, (just transport costs) You rebuild the engine, drop down in jet size and maybe go up a level on spark plug and get some sand paper and clean the head, to take the black goo off. Find someone who can set the ignition timing just right and drive the mofo like your pants are on fire. It has to much money in it, to toss the curse word away. And if you sell it, you will regret it. To respark your enthousiasm again: i removed most of the rust and paint on my simonini exhaust today. It is almost ready for some black paint And register on www.puchforum.comI will not tell you again, just do it They can help you there, trust me.

So thanks to Martijn I got some mojo back for the Puch Found an absolute bargain of a spare engine and couldn't resist buying it. I had the plan of stripping the crank and flywheel from it and transferring them to my old engine, however it arrived today and the plan is changing! It's in much better condition than I could have hoped ;D Here it is out the box: Love the patina on the flywheel cover Electrics look mint! First off, being that its so clean I decided a bit of Auto sol wouldn't go amiss and so I made a cuppa and sat down in front of River Monsters on the telly box and started polishing! Then a bit later grabbed a beer and carried on polishing it ;D Shiny! All seems well as far as I can tell without stripping it down at the moment, piston moves up and down nicely, sounds smooth on the cycle and the ignition system looks in really good nick! The circlip on the clutch lever is new (recent fettling?) the oil is fresh and even the wiring is as new! So the new plan, if it ain't broke.... I'm not normally one for this age old adage - I like to KNOW for sure something is good but I've had a run of bad luck with this infernal machine and so my current plan is clean up my 70cc kit and just replace the top end on the new engine (unless on further inspection the conrod doesn't look too clever) as well as re jet the carb... I figure I'm due a bit of good luck and at the end of the day if if all goes together and it seems like there's a problem I'll have all the bits here anyway! So that's the plan anyway!

;D haha, I'd suggest looking for another but you should know better by now! So I've been really busy and had no chance to look at the motor again until tonight, stripped the head and cylinder off and took the piston off the conrod to see what the bearings are like. Considerably better condition than the last Puch Maxi engine I took apart! Cylinder liner is mint, so is the head and piston. Think I might make a gearknob out of this ;D The bearings seem to be in good condition with no play, pretty happy about that! The conrod is standard of course whereas the one in my other engine is a 'racing' one - seems the bearings in the little end are different... I wonder how much of a hindrance this might be? I'm keen to fit my big top end and ride the hell out of it! Here it is with the gasket face cleaned off and as it stands at the moment: Looking forward to the next stage, removing the old engine and swapping bits over ;D may have to wait till the weekend though!

here is a tip for your swingarm. Take no notice of the rust, it is from a ratbike, just weld it and throw on some clear lacquer and it'll be fine. Weld those two little plates of steel to it and it will be really strong. Because to be honest, the original swingarm is stronger. And what about my clutch plate? This one isn't gonna wobble @ 12.500 rpm

Made some progress today, not quite as much as I'd wanted but progress none the less. Started by dragging the Puch into the daylight this morning and whipping the engine off: Looks a bit mad ;D Puch sans motor: Took it into the garage and started stripping it down. I cleaned up the 70cc cylinder, head and piston and started to fit them to my new motor, this being the 2nd time round it was much easier than last time! Spangly Then I fitted the circlip to one side of the piston before sliding the gudgeon pin through the brass conrod bearing and then fitted the second clip - making sure the piston was the right way up. I seem to remember last time I was pinging circlips all over the show and snapping piston rings like it was going out of fashion! Ready for cylinder fitting: With the top end rebuilt I took the flywheel off to inspect the stator plate and also tO investigate why the rubber grommet for the HT lead wasn't pierced... Seems the ignition coil is different! No typical coil with a cap to fit the HT lead Like my original motor - just 2 exposed wound coils and a relatively standard gauge wire joining the rest of the "loom". At this point I gave my mate a bell (meltedcheese) as I was gonna go round and check out his progress on his Italjet anyway. I wondered if he had a similar setup on his bike so decided to bring my motor round too. What did I see on route? A formidable moped gang saturated with Puch Maxis!! ;D What are the chances?! ;D Anyway, he had some spare HT wire left over so fired up the soldering iron and extended the wire that came from the coil, before heat shrinking the connection sealed, nicely done All I managed to do when I got back was refit the woodruff key (such a tight fit!) and wind my NGK cap onto the new HT lead. I'm hoping to get more done on the morrow

Haha ;D I'd blow their cigar exhausts off Had a good bit of progress but left it feelin bit fed up of it.. Hopefully feel better about it after work tomorrow, we'll see! I took the rear wheel off first so I could change the sprocket: Here it blows and that: On! Surprisingly, for an aftermarket Puch Maxi part, it required no drilling, chopping bending or throwing to fit! ;D Well, I got it all back together and on to it's wheels and filled with fresh oil... But she no go! I can't remember if the wiring all needs to be connected to the switch and so on for there to be a full circuit? - I don't understand why they would need to be but at the moment they aren't and I need to work out what goes where as the new engine loom is different to the rest of my Maxi loom. My switch is missing its clamps too :/ doh. These are the engine wires: This is the wire that I've connected to the spark plug: These are the bike wires: (bar the one from the rear light - not pictured) Need to work out what's what I think. I have compression and fuel, i don't think I've got a spark though. Anyway, thats where it's at now..

those extra coils are probably for turn signals and/or brake lights. So, they aren't really necessary.

That ignition is for a maxi with external ignition coil and (BIG guess) turn signals and battery! US spec engine of E-bay? keep the coil with yellow and green cables and replace the one with blue (?) cables with the black ht coil If you have a flat coil grey cable fit that one to, its juice for the tail light i saving up money to by one of these.........
