In the past two years I have come to know these cars inside out as well as where to get parts and what fits what. Because of this I now look after lots of cars, including the GT seen in this thread and 2 968s. I recently have converted a 924 to 3.0 16v and supercharged a 968, so decided to become a specialist, PM me if you need anything. I thought i need to do somthing with the tail pipe.. But then i saw this.. Like his GTS spoiler tho..

A spot on look as always. A specialist I hear? That's another person I can add to the contacts . It is interesting to see the facts for a change rather than conjecture/one off experiences. After all, it makes things that little more accessible to the rest of us. Let's hope the square dash 'box lasts a little longer . Not sure about changing it yearly though (Although some may say it's foolish to run a few retros and a workhorse LOL).

I should have known that this would happen! Well, there's not much to say! It's come as a built car to me, and well, I'd simply be reiterating that. Every other car I have had has pretty much had some form of significant surgery done. We shall see . I am enjoying driving it mind you (900 miles and counting ). Arrgghh, Go on then, it's up.

It's pics like this that make me want a 944. I have no room, no funds and no real need but a whole heap of want. Cool rating of well over 1988 megafonzies. ;D

Thanks ^^ The Bosch pump went all weak and noisy, now replaced with this Walbro 255. The Turbonetics waste gate was running as a single port, will now be dual port and the correct spring will be fitted. I have changed the boost controll to this type- www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TURBO-MANUAL-BOOST-CONTROLLER-NOT-A-BLEED-VALVE-/220537042109?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item33590834bdAlso recently I have had the intercooler modified, and discoverd that my turbo has been slightly re worked. The spec for now- (mild but effective) n/a camshaft Balance shaft delete Cycle Valve replaced with manual boost controll Linsey Racing chip set Non cat exhaust system 3.0 bar fuel pressure regulator turbonetics dual port waste gate Walbro 255 fuel pump #55 lb siemens injectors cone filter KKK 26/8 turbo (lightly modified) Modified intercooler with larger end tanks. Boost set @ 1.5 bar short ratio 5Y gearbox running turbo driveshafts. No air con/ABS and lots of other weight removed. I would like to get it on the rollers soon, as it is at the stage where the AFM will be holding it back, JMG say around 340 hp is the AFMs flow limit (and they have unkind rollers) with just over 400ft lb. www.jmgarage.co.uk/CMS/index.php/menu-articles/articles-performance/item/178-tuningthe944turboparttwoAfter 2 years I replaced the non scripted drivers handle with the correct matching one. Infact there are lots of little bits I change all the time, when they come up. Never worth posting about though, for instance you will notice the l/h/r tail light was a darker lens and they were replaced with a matching set, and the spare wheel was replaced with a magnesium one from a 993 as it fits over the Brembos, I also bought the Bilstein alloy jack from that car. Slowly I purchased all the little things, complete tool kit, minty hand books, sunroof bag, little clips... odd, ends ect.. as well as maintainance- its a full time job. But as one thing is fixed another needs attention - the outer CV boots, wire fault on o/s main beam, sunroof gears (again) and an exhaust knock from centre when cornering hard, which will be ok when I change tail pipe and drop system down a bit. And a period genuine badge has to be better than a sticker right? you can't buy a Ruf badge, not even from Ruf unless you have a chassis number - so that was a rare find, pleased with that.

It's the details that set cars like this apart from the norm.

Thankyou Sir. Right, first the small things, that silly tail pipe is now 2" shorter - shame it took a year to get round to it as it looked silly. Looks factory now- I look after the underside, so i thought id would show you it, its very good for its age. Now the bigger things, the gearbox is now bothering me as its gearing is a bit short, it seems to make little difference being in 4th or 5th when you floor it and 1st is a waste of time. (lots of lifting as traffic in the way hence lifting a lot, but you see gears are short) If you look how quickly it gets from 60 to over 100, id like that to be just 3rd. So I bought this from Dave- A G31 Dogleg with LSD, with all conversion parts to fit my 944 including a speedo drive set up Today, I'm swapping the 944 torsion bars and thisngs onto the G31s rear beam. In all, I will have taller gears, stronger box and a cool 80s dogleg change, just what BTR needed..

Great to see you keeping with the factory 'RUF' theme . It is also wonderful to see such a clean '44 beneath. You haven't considered deleting the middle silencer? . A Snailshell 'box? That should work well!. If I am honest I reckon the turbos are a little tall as stock, but not by a huge amount. I only ever chuck mine into 5th when cruisng beyond around 45-50MPH and that is with the boost kicking in at 2.5-3krpm on my car as well (it is ok to drive below, but it is not brilliant as you will know . Maybe I am used to the 205's box (5th in that I can normally go into in town with the engine having a wall of revvy torque (well, enough for something weighing as much as a fag packet)!

Looking good!
Not taking into consideration the gearing, changing from 2nd to 3rd should be great with the dogleg box!

Thanks man, i finished the gearbox today - what a **** of a job. Poor design imo.
Well, i just went for a drive, i cant get the speedo to work, don't like the shift, and it is not as quick. I'm debating wether i can be botherd to take it back out and put the 5Y back in.

At least with you having just done it, the knowledge should all be fresh in your head . As for having to do it all again, nothing ventured, nothing gained .

A 968 gearbox will cost more than my car, and its not a straight fit. I have thought about it today, and i realy don't want to take it out again, removing a torque tube and axle in a poorly surfaced car park on 18 inches of axle stands is just no fun.(I'm still sore) I also managed to index the suspension the same as it was, but i wanted it a tad higher. I will sort the speedo and raise up the rear a bit for now.

First off, congrats on the well deserved mag feature. I felt the same way when I fitted a dogleg box into an e21 but if I'm honest it kinda grew on me. In fact I'm just slotting one into my track car to try and make the most of the more modest power (compared to MIB) Is there anything you can do to improve the change? Does it have a short shift? What type of bushes are in the linkage?

Thanks guys! I hope it will grow on me, ive had d/l boxes in Bmws in the past but they were a much easier to use box. The linkage and bushes are good, infact its a good condition set up all through. I have a plan for the future, but need to save a bit. I had the money but all my MOTs and taxes arrived.
