Scavenger alert Have been looking for bits to make a welder and grinder trolley. Today I had a meeting in Croydon about an hour from home. As I drove into the hotel car park..... HALLELUJAH.... SKIP !!! Filled with old desks and other rubbish.  Did not even park the car..... Reconfigured the rear, and Hey Presto. We have some free steel.  Got home tonight and unpacked it.  Some nice bits of steel Not ideal for what I have in mind for when I build the new welder stand, but hey, it’s free. In other news... Saw this this morning. Someone knows the new fledglings are all out there.  Harley....... wish I could change what is natural for her. Killer. |

Prozac to the rescue. Saw this in a skip on Sunday.  After work Monday I managed to get it for £10.00 after getting the driver to put the skip on the ground again and help me get it out and loaded into tbe van.  Unloaded back home. Needs a clean up and paint. Better welding table than the one I have.  |

Just realised, this is a skip find too. Very early BSA Meteor .22 Air rifle. More vintage than weapon, so let’s see where it goes. Mate Craig found it and gave it to me as his wife does not agree with guns on their property.  Plan is to restore it, I have bought a replacement barrel seal and 500 pellets. Stripped it down and started on the stock, removing varnish and sanding down to very fine grade by hand.  Next up will be either Danish oil, Matt clear varnish or oil. I will see what the metal work looks like once done as it is a bit rough.  |

Decided to reassemble after cleaning the gun.  Pellets and barrel seal,landed today. Have shot with it in the dark tonight, packs a decent punch still. TG serial numbers begin in 1974 and run to 1978 Just in case you missed something off. Now that's a good skip find.
My workshop is oppersite the skip yard but rarely anything good in them nowerdays, just builders rubbish, waste from weed farms or house clearances from single mum's!

The sad thing Slater, is that this sort of thing is just a singular snowflake on the top of the proverbial Iceberg. So much stuff just gets thrown out and crushed. Happy I got the opportunity to have it for a bit. |

After work tonight, I cut the front hedge and shrubs, all the grass and then thought I would relax....... ermmm wrong. Went down to the garage, moved Prozac and got started on cleaning the welding table/workbench.  Scraping all the paint off after clearing all the gunge of years off the flat surfaces took some time.  Finally two washes with petrol,and an old t-shirt gave me this, ready for either new paint or just leave it as is. Still thinking..... Opinions?  After reassembling the skip find air rifle last night and shooting in the dark, I also set it up tonight. The little sight is not as good as the modern item I bought for the newer gun I bought recently Size difference between the two calibers.  And after three sets of 5 pellets and setting up the scope, this was the result. I am really impressed with this skip find.  So there you go, skip finds.... Free cash. |

That gun is really nice, I'm not into shooting but its just a nice looking thing. These wernt something I thought id put on here, its pottery ffs, but the more I look at them the more i like them. Anyway, this thing has been in the family for a while and I like it, the finnish on it is just interesting to look at, simple as that.  I picked this jug up from a car boot a while back, just because the patch its got on it looks rusty. Cant beat a bit of rust.  And last weekend I found this. It looks like its got a hammered finnish and all the paint has flaked off and its started to rust over most of one side of it, its got a genuine rat-look about it  Ive been told its known as a type of earthenware. I'm not about to start collecting this type of rusty knackered rough looking old earthenware, just because i seem to find it for peanuts. |

Leave it as it is, or just wax it, almost seems a shame to paint it, nice find. The more I go to the shop-at-the-tip, the more aware I am of how much perfectly usable stuff is being saved. Not just usable stuff, but all manner of old and interesting stuff too, but then it makes you think about the sheer number of items that have been lost over the years. There seems to be more of a trend for people wanting to save old things now, moreso than there was in the 90's and 00's, back then i felt like I was the only one who thought it was normal and acceptable to jump in a skip. |

My deck set has been degenerating over time. Found this chair on the South Circular and fixed it, minor repair.  Mate Kevin dropped off some chairs his wife had thrown out, so they needed a bit of tlc as well, mainly Danish Oil like the other chair did, but they looked a bit tired against it.  I made the mistake of buying two litres of Outdoor Furniture oil, and not Danish Oil as planned, only realised once I opened it and poured into my tub. Still, it certainly revitalised the wood, comparing one done vs one not yet done.  I will go get some Danish Oil during the week and give them a coat over the oil. Should be good.  |

I have ordered two of them £20.00 for nothing and they were happy to take it, of course I did it give thecash, just tried to prove a pound. And sometimes what I get is better than what I have. |

Took a day leave today so that I could prepare for my mid year review next week. Yes, it is a big deal and a lot of preparing. Fetched a fan from the garage, because it got hot. This thermometer is inside my bathroom.  At about 19.00 Iwent to the garage to give the four rescue chairs a coat of Danish Oil. With help as always.  Despite the two coats of furniture oil, you can s e the difference the Danish Oil made.  And all four done. Happy with the exult. Probably around £35.00 plus my time  Hopefully years of use ahead in them |

That's a cracking little rifle Grizz. I've got one similar and an old .177 Diane somewhere. That's more of an indoor toy though.
