Would you pick up £135.00 if it landed in your way….? I need to put an edge to the new drive planned for when I get some time. Down the side to retain the garden. Sally’s son is redoing his garden, and it all has to be new, no cleaning up and reuse So I went 6 miles to rescue these 25 450x450 slabs and 4 shorter ones after work. Glad I have a wagon. And ready to be used when I get to it. Plan is to pressure pressure clean them all before using. You go do the maths. As an aside, filled the car today. Diesel price per litre. Thank goodness for free cash laying around.

Went out to walk Bonnie tonight. Up,a lane I saw a pile of scrap. And a nice wrought iron bracket. On the way back, I went and knocked on the door and asked if I could rummage in the junk. Yes of course came the reply. Walking back toward the car, carrying this lot for 2km had Sally taking a pic of just how good I look scavenging. Do I care? Back home I checked it out. Thermometer one side, Clock, that works and barometer on the other side. And it all works. Chuffed for sure, a nice thing to hang somewhere..

I got a long (roughly 6') spirit level out of a skip the other day, one of the bubbles is too long to be any use but not in the part I am using, and it seems that replacements are easy to find.
Handy, as I'm currently levelling up the tops of the inner wings on my project, and it's much more convenient than my old way, which was a length of angle iron with a normal spirit level balanced on top of it.

Our local council tip won't take any car parts for some reason. The Post Office apparently won't allow me to send car body panels. I know what they mean - if I badly pack a front wing and it gets damaged, I'll want them to compensate me, but there's no need for it to be quite such a blanket ban. If I send a pair of chassis rail repair sections out, they'd be fine because they don't have the kind of detailed shape that a front wing has, and if they can't stand being tossed around in the delivery trucks and handling areas they're not going to be much use holding the gearbox in. But no, I have to say that they're "pieces of metal" or they won't accept them. Still, I guess you can't expect the counter staff to necessarily be able to differentiate between the different kinds of body panel, so an overall ban arrives.

My local Postmaster explained it to me that you’re not allowed to use the generic description “car parts”. You can send a “wiper motor”, or a “carburettor” though.

My worst worry about dying is my wife selling my stuff for what I told her it cost...

My dog has allergies, and the vet recommended I buy octenisan from the chemist rather than pay vet prices for it.
It's only soap/wound wash, but they always ask why I need it. The first time I bought it, they refused to sell it for pet use!
Now I say it's for my wife's smelly feet!

Bit of a story on this one. Bonnie the rescue dog loves water. On Sunday it was really hot and Sally put out a washing up bowl filled with water for her. Twice. Played it dry both times. So I said a Little Tikes kids sandpit/splash pool would be ideal. Tonight after work I stopped in the village to get bread and then headed home. Saw a skip. Full. And on top was the lid. U-Turn and knock on the door, ask if I can have it, body was there too. Loaded. Unpack Mucky Price Check Thank You Pressure Cleaner Plus Rag and Amonia cleaner. Result Off to Sally Greeted with a WTF ? (Where That Found) Water + Dog added. Toys brought into pool by Bonnie. I think you can call that a result. Half an hour and she has not got out of it. Still playing.

Wish my dog had that much sense during this weather, he just barks at any water he sees, especially of it has waves!
He is not popular at the beach...

Not really from a tip, these are from a local Facebook posting of "can anyone make use of these before they go to the tip?" Yes, I think I might be able to, thanks very much. The only problem is that, because they've been in an office, they're really clean and it seems to be a pity to get them dirty. Oh, and there's so much stuff in the shed I might have to actually get rid of something else to have somewhere to put them. And getting them to the back of the shed will be a problem.

Walking past a skip, my eyes are drawn in there. Walking the dog yesterday, the farm house had a new skip outside……. Unused, like new….. phone holder, that will work for the Rezin Rockit and my mobile phone when I need a Satnav. Free really is good.
