Bit of a weird question, but I'm working on a project concerning Anglesey Circuit and thought perhaps the Retro Rides hivemind could help. Anyone been there recently? What did you think? Good points/bad points? Did you go there as a child - do you remember how it was in the past? What do you think could improve it? Does it have the potential to be a viable venue for highish-profile televised series such as the BTCC? Sorry, that's a lot of questions. Just interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks. Have some pics.

I'll be moving to a house within spitting distance of the circuit very soon, and as such I believe they should be holding every conceivable form of motorsport there, from BTCC rounds to historic racing. They should also build a dragstrip. Unfortunately, I have no practical knowledge or facts to contribute, but that's an enthusiastic opinion for you. In all seriousness though, I don't see an issue with noise pollution if they did expand it's use, as the RAF use that same area for training fighter pilots out of Valley, and I've yet to hear an exhaust note anywhere near as loud as that.

That's a very interesting point! Basically, our 2010 graduate intake are working on a project/pitch to drive more visitors to Anglesey Circuit, particularly from England. So nuggets like that will form a useful part of their strategy. Thanks!

I'm also pretty close, but worryingly, I haven't been since I saw autocross (I think!) there probably over 10 years ago! (I know I wasn't driving) back then it was still covered in tumbledown ex raf buildings!
- maybe I should get up there and check it out!

Almost on the road: b11 sunny breadvan, e36 tds, 325i skidcar,
nearly there: ford f250 tathauler, suzuki alto, u11 bluey
not for a while: ford pop, 32 rails,
not in this lifetime: ruby, '29 hillman

It was originally used as a rallycross circuit. The sealed surface circuit only opened in the mid 1990s, so doesn't have much in the way of history. Anyway, shouldn't your graduates be doing this?

Sounds like a good project for them.
Been to angelsey a few times working in the pits. The drivers always seem to enjoy driving the track and it would certainly be good to see BTCC there and I do think with the funding it could be possible as the surrounding areas are very open so there is alot of room for expansion. Maybe when your graduates have finished this as a project they could approach the people behind the running of the circuit? or is that already the idea?

I live about 5 miles from the circuit. I've only been there a couple of times but I know it definately needs some stands. I wouldn't like to be sitting on the grass on the big hill if it is raining. It is very exposed and would be nice if the spectators had some protection other than sitting in their cars. There is alot of anemosity towards the owners (Bodorgan Estates) Due to there underhanded dealings concerning local people. Although I'm potty about cars, I feel there is a degree of noise polution and can spoil a peaceful relaxing area which is Cwyfan bay which is overlooked by the circuit. I cant see the local road network being big enough for regular big events such as the BTCC because you are a few miles away from the A55 which ever way you go. What I do like is on days when classic events ( that I never hear about, thus not attend) Most cars go right past my house so I'm like a teenager having a wet dream! lol

Anyway, shouldn't your graduates be doing this? Ha ha, yes they should, but I feel the need to help out - we have two teams of grads competing with one another on the pitch, but if either one wins then it means a lot of money for the company, so I want to feed them some good info! Maybe when your graduates have finished this as a project they could approach the people behind the running of the circuit? or is that already the idea? They're pitching to the owners of the circuit, so these ideas are all fodder for their pitch concepts. They'll be saying 'here's what we can do to begin with, and here are a load of ideas for what you can do long term'. I live about 5 miles from the circuit. I've only been there a couple of times but I know it definately needs some stands. I wouldn't like to be sitting on the grass on the big hill if it is raining. Are there any particular or noteable examples of Bodorgan Estates' underhand dealings? It'd be good to formulate a realistic strategy that includes not annoying the locals!

I've just heard of people who were offered a pittance for property when the circuit was getting rebuilt, and I have talked to people who spit when you say bodorgan estate! I think they already offer free entry to the most local of people. I cant offer any evidence but that is just my opinion formed from chatting to people who have had call to deal with them.
