Hi all been knocking about on this forum for a while but never posted much. I have a background in modified VW's however have always loved the retro cars. I have had loads of VW's but I thought the time had come to get a car that was going to work every day and that I could just drive around in and not really have to bother about too much and with a move to germany coming up it had to be able to get us there. I knew I couldnt get a VW because I just cant leave them alone! So when this Citroen ZX volcane came up at £600 with 12 months tax and test I had to check it out especially as it was only 4 miles up the road from me. Offered the guy 400 and he let it go! So knocked about in it for a while travelled around England a bit grew a bit of a bond with my trusty green citroen so treated him to a full service and the obligatory fuel and turbo tweaks. Only adjuisted slightly as I didnt want john deere style smoke and he goes like a good 'un! Then attended the gathering at the Haynes and decided right when I'm in germany this car is getting some tweaks especially as I am only miles from the green hell! So now I am in germany and the tweaks can begin so thought I would start a build on here. Sorry for waffling heres some photos. A few of the VW's ive owned ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/dubster_86/DSCF0096.jpg) ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/dubster_86/cab5.jpg) ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/dubster_86/DSCF0123.jpg) Ive owned about 12 more aswell but these are my favourites. And to the Volcane ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/dubster_86/S6002195.jpg) Terrible pic and as you can see totally standard but there should be a lot of things to come so keep em peeled. Thanks for your time

I'd love a ZX Volcane, if I had to have one car that I would need to drive longer distances and use as a trackday / slalom car I'd have one. You need to take some better pictures, especially of the interior!

The interior is immaculate and amazingly comfortable. I didnt mention mine is the 1.9 Turbo D same as a 306 D turbo so not the real deal 2.0 16v but when it does 60mpg you got to love it

had a "normal" ZX TD and it handled pretty tidily, I'd've loved a volcane but there weren't any around at the time for reasonable money ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png)

They are mega cheap now. A "real" 2.0 16v went on Ebay 11 months tax 10 months test 100 quid you cant complain. Yeah it does handle rather well but its a french hatch so thats a given really!

I used to have a 2.0 16v Volcane - K862 YVM. Bought it off a mate for £500, smoked around in it for a while, then it got banana'd by a delivery lorry at work. Their insurance paid out £1000, then I sold it for £500. Good times.
You get a lot of car for your money - they're very well equipped, they even have EBD.

been wondering when they were going to hit the radar. I love them prefer to the eqiv 306. alot of the 16vs seem to have ended up as donors.
i'd like a small collection of mid ninetys hatches, probably all stock other than a bit of lowering.
the french ones seem to be the best, and only the german golf mk3 would probably go of the list due to being so common, though the 306 isn't eactly rare so that too!
R19, phase1, love them so much we have 3!, zx 16v, fiat tipo Sediciovalve.

They weren't really on my radar until I had cause to use a friend's ZX TD a few times - 100k and a little baggy, but a pretty good car for £100!
Pretty rare to see a Volcane these days.

Yeah you don't see that many volcanes knocking about thats true. I just need a wheel for this one as when we were travelling through belgium we ran over a fire extinguisher which was in the middle of the second lane of the motorway so it absolutely wasted one of my wheels. To be honest I am quite gutted about that because I quite like the way it looks on standard wheels and I am finding it very hard to find any standard ones. I think I am going to buy some cheap aftermarket ones (over here they are very cheap) and keep an eye for a geniune one.

Been and picked the wheels up they are alright tyre profiles are huge but at least they are round This is the reason i needed them ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/dubster_86/S6002205.jpg) And how it looks on them/ a better photo of the car ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/dubster_86/S6002207.jpg) Having changed the wheels I do feel its lost that volcane look so will be on the hunt for 1 genuine one and will probably refurb them Rob

Lovely car, have a soft spot for them as my mother had the same car when I started to learn to drive so started out in it 11 years ago now. Still see it from time to time!

I think you have to drive one to appreciate how good they are! Everyone I have spoken to who has owned one has said they love them.

ZxRob- the 2.0 16v not the best its a mi16 engine not famed for fuel economy but its not bad. Very tuneable and it sounds luuuvly! Think its 155bhp standard, not an awful lot but the handling makes up for it as long as you enjoy lift off oversteer :-)
