Are there any 16inch or 17 inch steels that'll fit an e36 without adapters or or centrebore problems. so that i can get two banded for the back of my dirty diesel 4door. There's loads of 15s but it's like bigger than 15 if i can.
Plenty of wheel knowledge on here or certain as i had very quick help when looking for big 5x112 steels before

All that fits are BMWs and Vaux Monzas. The offset will be wrong though on 5 and 7 series, so the only option really would be to try and find full-size spares from E46-on 3 series or 1 series models, which all came as standard with spacesavers iirc so you'll have a hard time I fear.
Easier to find I daresay would be some chevy 5x4.3/4" steels off any nasty 70s/80s barge. Not all that much easier though!

I think you could get e46's with 17x7 steelies, I guess they would fit, hard to find though. edit: surprisingskoda - can't think of any 70/80 yank with that big wheels, besides maybe cadillac had some weird looking 16" rims. More modern american stuff on the other hand might be worth a look, again, the smaller chevy bolt pattern should fit. edit2: another idea would be brand new rims from summit, then you won't have to band them Get them before they're everywhere, they're spreading like mad from scene to scene at the moment ;D www.summitracing.com/parts/CRR-3978934/www.summitracing.com/parts/CRR-3978934/dirt cheap, ridiculous freight.

Dude, while those are very cool, I'm kind of poor at the moment ;D they would be nice for my scorpio ("ugly" frog/ fish eyes 1994 onwards version) NASCAR style car that i want to make though

It's ok i think i may have located some 16 inch E46 steels which may do for now

Seconded! There will be a 7 digit part number on them on the back (so on the front on the front pair!) if they're from BMW, which will show what they're off on realoem.

In Germany, e46's came with the option of 7x17" winter wheels, or they were an optional dealer extra. Check out ebay.de for a few sets. Also someone mentioned on here a while ago that Transporter T5's had 5x120 pcd. Some of them have six (maybe seven) wide spoked 17" steels with large black centre caps. These would look pretty awesome banded. here, 7 spokes. I can't verify the pcd though.

There are 17x7j steels listed as spares/winter wheels for E46s. I priced up a set new from the dealer and they came to over 300 quid. Sets come up on eBay from time to time though.

I've seen a mint set for 100€ at a scrapyard, but as usual i was very poor, and didn't realize how unusual they were.

Sets come up on eBay from time to time though. 300 they can foook off ha ha. that's €350 at least for some standard steels (before you factor in that if a part in the UK costs one amount, it'll cost a hundred more at least over here usually, if not a double the flippin price), not a hope of me paying that. However, checking out german ebay for some of those winter wheels might be a better option, as the 17s would look nicer than 16s. even though the arches don't even look that big on e36s, 16s look a bit lost, too small on them
